Float Positions. The Employer may establish regular float positions which are consecutive hour shifts.
Float Positions. The Employer’s request for selection of vacation shall be no earlier than October 1st, and the posting of the approved vacation schedule shall be completed by December 31st of the preceding calendar year or any other date mutually agreed at the local level. The choice of vacation periods shall be granted employees on the basis of seniority with the Employer except where the period requested would be detrimental to the operation of a department or where the employee has not exercised her rights within the vacation selection time posted by the employer. Once the approved vacation schedule has been posted, it shall only be changed by mutual agreement between the Employer and the affected employee.

(a) It may be operationally more efficient and cost effective to utilize regular float positions for relief work as set out in the Addendum - Casual Employees. Within ninety (90) days of ratification of the Agreement, and on an annual basis thereafter, the Employer and the Union, at the local level, will discuss the development of regular status float pool positions in light of the Employer’s use of casual employees in the previous period.
(b) Float pool employees shall be utilized only to relieve positions occupied by other regular employees. However, where no such work is available, employees in float pool positions shall be utilized productively.
(c) The Employer shall post and fill float positions in accordance with Article 16.01(a). Float pool employees are entitled to all the provisions of this agreement except Article 19.01 (a), (b), (c), (d) and (f), and 19.

(d) Where appropriate, a float pool employee may be required to perform work at more than one work site of the Employer.
(e) Existing local agreements will not be affected by the above.

(c) An employee accepting a Float position must be willing and able to work in a variety of positions and shifts according to operational needs and locations and may be pre-scheduled to fill vacancies or as they occur.
(d) It is understood that start and stop times may vary, so therefore this position will be exempt from Article 18.01 (a) –

c) The rate of pay shall be according to the job classification the Float position is covering. Employees hired at the “New Hire Retail Aide” wage rate shall be paid at that wage rate when working as a retail aide.
Float Positions. The employer will post all vacancies in accordance with this article. The union shall be provided advance written notice of any decision to eliminate or alter the status of a position (i.e. Full time or Part Time) prior to posting or any decision to not post and fill a vacancy. Upon written request, the parties will meet to consider input and alternatives proposed by the union and discuss the impact of the change on existing employees.

In addition, they shall not be entitled to access work under Article 45 – Casual and Part-time Call In and Entitlements, at times when they are otherwise regularly scheduled to work.
