Common use of Step I Clause in Contracts

Step I. If the grievance is not resolved within five (5) days of such informal meeting or if the teacher has elected not to use the informal procedure, he/she may present his/her formal claim by submitting a complete Grievance Report Form, Step I, which form is set forth in 12.05. Copies of this form showing the date of the occurrence, a statement of the nature of the grievance and provisions of this Agreement, Board policies, and/or rules allegedly violated, and the relief sought shall be submitted by the teacher to the Association representative who shall distribute copies of the completed grievance to the Superintendent and principal or supervisor. Within five (5) days of the receipt of the Grievance Report Form, the principal or supervisor shall meet with the teacher and/or his/her Association representative in an effort to resolve the grievance. The principal or supervisor shall indicate his/her disposition of the grievance within five (5) days after such meeting by completing Step I of the Grievance Report Form and returning it to the teacher. The Association and the Superintendent shall both be notified in writing by the above mentioned principal or supervisor as to such disposition of the grievance.
