Storm Drain Pipe. This bid item shall be paid on linear foot basis. Storm drain pipe shall be measured in linear foot along the centerline of the pipe for the size and type of pipe specified from end of pipe to end of pipe. The unit cost shall include the cost of saw-cutting asphalt pavement, excavating and disposal of material, furnishing, trenching, compaction test, and installation of the pipe along with bedding material and backfill material (21A, BM-25.0, and/or existing soil). The type of backfill has been specified for each pipe segment. See backfill A, B, C, D and E details in Appendix D for backfill requirements. The requirements in these details shall replace requirements as shown on the plans.

Storm Drain Pipe. SDR17 HDPE, Directional Drill (Diff) – This bid item shall be paid for on a linear foot basis for the difference in price to use and install SDR17 high density polyethylene pipe (HDPE) using horizontal directional drilling rather than reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) as specified in the base bid. A negative bid number shall indicate a reduction in the price whereas a positive number shall indicate a price increase. Storm drain pipe shall be measured in linear foot along the centerline of the pipe for the size and type of pipe specified from end of pipe to end of pipe and only include pipe that is permanently installed – any additional pipe required for surface launching the horizontal directional drilling operation shall be included in the unit price for this item. Contractor should note that any difference in pipe/structure connections from RCP in the base bid to HDPE shall also be included. Manhole size may change depending on the type of connection. Contractor is responsible for determining any necessary size change and shall include associated cost to the unit price.
