Subnetworks. ‌ In this thesis we use the projection method to obtain a set of equations for a subnetwork embedded in a larger protein interaction network. Below we review other methods of model reduction that attempt to simplify an initial large model down to a subnetwork description. Sensitivity analysis tries to determine which molecular species are insigni cant to the dynamic system of interest [31]. A parameter is classi ed as insigni cant if it has a low sensitivity, in that its precise value does not have a large e ect on the concentrations of the rest of the species in the network. If we consider a reaction system ∂ x = Sfx = g(x) (2.3.1) ∂t then we can determine the importance of species i by considering Bi = (2.3.2) Σ ∂ xx xx 0 j ∂ ln x i where j indexes the components of x. Then any species i with sensitivity Bi < B, where B is a parameter re ecting the desired accuracy of the model, can be considered to have a low sensitivity. Low sensitivity parameters are then eliminated or replaced by a smaller number of e ective species. However, sometimes it is necessary to keep a low sensitivity parameter to ensure the results are biologically valid. This approach will not work with a predetermined subnetwork as that subnetwork may contain a mixture of low and high sensitivity parameters and therefore the subnetwork found using sensitivity analysis is e ectively chosen by the method. Timescale separation techniques are used to focus on the species that contribute most to the long-time dynamics of a system, by removing molecular species whose dynamics takes place on much shorter timescales. This is reasonable because biochemical processes occur on a range of timescales; changes in gene expression levels, for example, may take place over hours whereas protein signalling takes seconds. Timescale separation approaches have been used by x.x. Xxxxxxxx [32] and Xxxxxx et al. [33], with the subnetwork then containing all the slow molecular species and the bulk the fast ones. Thus, while these authors used projection techniques as we do, memory e ects did not arise: they become negligible if the bulk is fast enough to respond e ectively instantaneously on the timescale of the subnetwork dynamics to the state of the subnetwork. Here we consider signalling networks where the timescales of the dynamics of the subnetwork and the bulk are comparable, so that timescale separation methods are not directly applicable. Another way to reduce the system is to split it into modules where e...

  • Mobility 7.1 There may also be a business need to travel and work on a temporary basis at any premises which the Corporation currently has or may subsequently acquire or at any premises at which it may from time to time provide services. This would be subject to discussion and agreement giving due regard to the following considerations: - The location and arrangements for travel and subsistence; - The length of the working day with increased travel time; - The hours of work; - The timescale and duration of the proposed arrangements; - The employee’s personal and family circumstances.

  • Network Etiquette You are expected to abide by the generally accepted rules of network etiquette. These include but are not limited to the following:

  • Use of Verizon Telecommunications Services 2.1 Verizon Telecommunications Services may be purchased by Connectel under this Resale Attachment only for the purpose of resale by Connectel as a Telecommunications Carrier. Verizon Telecommunications Services to be purchased by Connectel for other purposes (including, but not limited to, Connectel’s own use) must be purchased by Connectel pursuant to other applicable Attachments to this Agreement (if any), or separate written agreements, including, but not limited to, applicable Verizon Tariffs.

  • Broadband Services Notwithstanding any other provision of the Amended Agreement (but subject to and without limiting Section 2 above and Section 4.4 below), when XO seeks access to a Hybrid Loop for the provision of "broadband services," as such term is defined by the FCC, then in accordance with 47 C.F.R. § 51.319(a) and the Arbitration Orders, Verizon shall provide XO with nondiscriminatory access under the Amended Agreement to the existing time division multiplexing features, functions, and capabilities of that Hybrid Loop, including DS1 or DS3 capacity (where impairment has been found to exist, which, for the avoidance of any doubt, does not include instances in which Verizon is not required to provide a DS1 Loop under Section 3.4.1 below or is not required to provide a DS3 Loop under Section 3.4.2 below) on an unbundled basis to establish a complete transmission path between the Verizon central office serving an end user and the end user's customer premises. This access shall include access to all features, functions, and capabilities of the Hybrid Loop that are not used to transmit packetized information.

  • Network Management 60.1 CLEC and CenturyLink will exchange appropriate information (e.g., network information, maintenance contact numbers, escalation procedures, and information required to comply with requirements of law enforcement and national security agencies) for network management purposes. In addition, the Parties will apply sound network management principles to alleviate or to prevent traffic congestion and to minimize fraud associated with third number billed calls, calling card calls, and other services related to this Agreement.

  • Cable Television, Telephone & Internet Services Long Distance calling may be done only through the use of a prepaid phone card or by charges made to a third party number if using a provided, in room telephone. Neither the Institution nor the Manager guarantees the availability of telephone service or cable television services. If the Resident wants additional cable television, telephone or internet service above and beyond any that may be provided as “standard” in the Residence, the Resident must submit full details to and request and obtain the prior written approval of the Manager and Institution. With respect to Internet Services, the Institution may at its discretion only allow either the standard provided service or the approved alternate service and not both at the same time (Residents will need to complete the Institution’s standard forms issued by their IT department). Cutting of wiring, boring of holes, the use of wireless routers, routers, or switches are not permitted. Any unauthorized services or equipment may be removed by the Manager, at the Resident’s expense, without notice or liability. All Residents are subject to the Institution’s and/or Service Provider’s current Internet, cable television and telephone enrolment and usage policies.
