Common use of Substitute Wages Clause in Contracts

Substitute Wages. Substitute wages shall be according to the following provisions: 1. A current employee substituting for an absent employee shall be paid his/her current wage rate for any substituting up to eight (8) hours. If the substitution continues beyond eight (8) hours, the substituting employee shall be paid at his/her current step on the classification/level of the absent employee, but not less than the substituting employee’s current wage rate. 2. An employee who is requested to and agrees to substitute for an absent teacher shall be paid at the District’s appropriate regular rate for substitute teachers unless that is less than the employee’s current rate of pay. Then the employee will be paid at their current wage rate.
