Substitute Employees. Employees replacing another on leave of absence from the position shall be known as substitute employees. Those substitutes who exceed 194 workdays in the fiscal year shall not gain permanent employment rights with the District. However, the agency shop provisions of this contract shall cover the employee.
Substitute Employees. A substitute employee is a person hired to perform the duties of a position in the temporary absence of the employee who is regularly assigned to that position.

Substitute Employees. Substitutes hired to fill a bargaining unit vacancy or to work in the absence of a classified unit member shall be paid at step one (1) of the range of the classification in which the substitute is working.
Substitute Employees.
(a) Effective July 1, 2005, substitute employees who work more than 75% of a fiscal year or 195 working days in any given fiscal year when the substitute is replacing an employee absent from duty due to illness or injury are entitled to classified status as a beginning probationary employee.
(b) When the District is engaged in a procedure to hire a permanent employee to fill a vacancy, the District may fill the vacancy through the employment, for not more than 60 work days, of one or more substitute employees. At the end of the 60 work days, if the District is actively recruiting, the District may continue to use a substitute until the position is filled. If, however, the District is not actively recruiting by the end of the 60 days, it may no longer continue to use the substitute to fill the position.
Substitute Employees. This article is intended to specify the wages, hours and working conditions of daily substitutes and non-continuing contract substitute employees.
Substitute Employees. A person employed during the school year as a replacement long-term substitute shall be paid a salary as agreed between that person and the school district, prorated to reflect the portion of the year for which hired. Additional information is included in Board Policy 456.
Substitute Employees. Substitute employees employed less than an average of fourteen (14) hours per week and 100 days per year shall be compensated at a rate not less than current school district policy.
Substitute Employees. Substitute employees hired in vacant positions pursuant to Ed Code 88003 may be employed up to 90 days if the District is engaged in a procedure to hire an employee to fill the vacancy. If the filling of the vacancy can reasonably be expected to take more than 90 days, the period in which a substitute may be employed under this section may be extended, by mutual agreement between ACE and the District, on a case-by-case basis.
Substitute Employees. Substitute employees are employees hired and assigned for the purpose of filling positions made vacant by the absence of a regular employee. Substitute employees are not covered by this Agreement.
