Substitute Teaching. An adjunct faculty member who is interested in a substitute teaching assignment may be assigned to teach as a substitute in a course section for which the adjunct faculty member is qualified to teach. Each semester an adjunct faculty member may submit to the appropriate Xxxx a written request, on a form provided by the College, which shall indicate his/her willingness and availability to act as a substitute teacher and a reliable means by which to contact the adjunct faculty member on short notice. An adjunct faculty member who is selected to substitute teach shall be paid in accordance with Article 8.4.
Substitute Teaching. The School District shall comply with the appropriate Pennsylvania statutes prohibiting field experience/practicum students and/or student teachers to be used as substitute teachers at any time during their field experience or student teaching assignments.
Substitute Teaching. A teacher will be additionally compensated for substitute teaching according to the following conditions:
1. The substitution occurs during the preparation period of the teacher who is substituting;
2. The teacher for whom the substitution is occurring must use a recognized leave day as established in Article IV of this agreement;
3. Compensation shall be at an hourly rate, which is determined by the maximum daily substitute-teaching rate for this school corporation divided by eight (8);
4. Compensation is calculated as time dedicated to substitute teaching times the rate established in Article III.D.3;
5. Substitute teaching arrangement must be approved and/or assigned by the building principal.
Substitute Teaching. A teacher on unpaid leave of absence shall be afforded the opportunity to apply to teach in the capacity of a substitute in the District.
Substitute Teaching. No teacher on said leave shall, on the basis of said leave, be denied the opportunity to substitute in the Wicomico County School System upon presentation of medical testimony that the teacher is able to do so.
Substitute Teaching. A. Substitute Pay or compensatory time for regularly assigned teachers who, with prior administrative approval, substitute for an absent colleague, shall be as specified in Article IV ¶ E of this Agreement.
B. Regular teachers who are on layoff may be afforded an opportunity to substitute for teachers on leaves of absence.
Substitute Teaching. A faculty member is encouraged to make substitute recommendations but shall not make final substitute assignments. The Administration may request a faculty member to teach an absent faculty member's class. If the faculty member teaches the class for the duration of the assigned class period, the faculty substitute will be compensated with substitute pay in accordance with Article 14 of the Agreement. If the faculty substitute teaches in excess of two (2) consecutive weeks, the Administration will compensate the faculty member at the established instructional overload rate, as provided in Article 14.6.
Substitute Teaching. Each employee who is requested by his/her immediate supervisor and agrees to substitute during his/her preparation period will receive compensation at the rate provided in Appendix C.6.a or shall accrue compensatory time as outlined in Article 12.S.
Substitute Teaching. A. Upon the approval of the Xxxxxxx (or his/her designee), each instructional faculty member may arrange for a substitute instructor from within the College faculty to be available on a temporarily basis in the event the faculty member is absent for any reason.
B. At the beginning of each term, each unit member who is assigned a teaching load will accomplish the necessary coordination with his or her colleagues, and will submit a list to the Xxxxxxx (or his/her designee) with an information-only copy to the Department Chairperson showing a substitute instructor for each assigned section. It will be the responsibility of the unit member to notify the approved substitute instructor(s) and the Xxxxxxx (or his/her designee) regarding any absences, whether planned or unplanned, unless circumstances beyond the control of the unit member prevent him/her from providing such notice. In cases of unplanned absences on the part of a unit member, the Xxxxxxx (or his/her designee) may assist in the notification of substitute instructor(s).
C. Unit members who are asked to serve as substitutes in classes for which they are qualified will agree to provide such service provided that no conflict in class schedules occurs as a consequence of the substitution. The parties recognize that in some infrequent instances, if the approved by the Xxxxxxx (or his/her designee), special class work may be assigned to students during an instructor's absence, and that in such instances the services of a substitute instructor may not be required.
D. When an exchange of time is not practicable between qualified substitutes, the College will compensate the substitute faculty member for the temporary assignment in accordance with the agreed upon rate as specified in Article 14. If the faculty member teaches as a substitute in excess of two (2) consecutive weeks during the term, the administration will compensate the faculty member at the established instructional overload rate, as provided in Article 14.6. Time spent in serving as a paid substitute cannot be credited towards the 35 hour faculty work-week obligation of all full-time faculty members.
Substitute Teaching. 9.1 Unit Members who substitute are expected to conduct classes in which they substitute in the same professional manner as in their own classes.
9.2 Unit Members who substitute may not combine a class in which they substitute with their own regular class scheduled at the same hour for extra pay unless by written permission of the President or designee.
9.3 Any substitute service by a Unit Member must be approved in advance by the Unit Member’s Immediate Management Supervisor. Substitute service performed without prior authorization shall be deemed to have been performed within the Unit Member’s assignment and shall not be eligible for additional compensation.
9.4 In the event of a Unit Member’s absence, a substitute may be provided at the discretion of the Immediate Management Supervisor. A Unit Member shall not engage any substitute unless the Immediate Management Supervisor has authorized the substitution in advance.
