Summative Evaluation of Teachers. a. Statement of Purpose Summative Evaluation through teaching reports is a legally required process. As such it must conform with the requirements of the School Act and Regulations. The integrity of the evaluation process is only maintained if the requirements of justice and due process are followed. The requirements cannot be so rigid or restrictive that the credibility of the evaluation process is brought into question. For the protection of the interests of the public and of the teacher, both parties in the summative evaluation process have an obligation to plan and to carry out a thorough and fair assessment.
