Extended Maternity Leave a. Teachers granted leave under the above mentioned paragraphs, who choose not to return to work at the expiration of that leave may apply for extended maternity leave, four (4) weeks prior to the start of a semester or term or by May 31st in respect to leave expiring on June 30th.
b. Leave shall be granted upon request for a period of up to a maximum of twenty
Extended Maternity Leave a. Teachers granted leave under Section G, Article G.22.1.a and G.22.3.a, who choose not to return to work at the expiration of that leave may apply for extended maternity/parental leave, four weeks prior to the expiry of the current leave.
b. Leave shall be granted upon request for a period of up to a maximum of twenty (20) school months, with return to coincide with the commencement of a school year or term.
c. Teachers returning from extended maternity/parental leave shall do so at the commencement of a term or semester and shall notify the Board eight (8) weeks in advance except in respect to leave expiring June 30 where notice shall be given by March 31.
Extended Maternity Leave. Teachers granted leave under Article G.22 who choose not to return to work at the expiration of that leave may apply for Extended Maternity Leave without pay.
Extended Maternity Leave. An extension to the short-term maternity leave (Article G.21.1) may be granted for the remainder of a school year with the option of extending the leave as parenthood leave. Refer to Article G.21.6.
Extended Maternity Leave a. Upon written request at least ten (10) working days prior to the expiration of pregnancy leave and/or parental leave, an additional leave of absence without pay and without loss of seniority shall be granted to a maximum of twelve (12) months.
b. The employee may maintain health and employee benefits in accordance with the respective plans if the employee so wishes by payment of the costs of such benefits by the employee.
c. The employee returning to work after extended maternity leave shall provide the Board with at least ten (10) working days notice.
d. On return from extended maternity leave, the employee shall return to the position previously held by the employee.
Extended Maternity Leave. 1. Teachers granted leave, under Article G.25 (Maternity Leave) who choose not to return to work at the expiration of that leave, may apply for extended maternity leave 30 calendar days prior to the date of return.
2. Extended maternity leave shall be granted upon request for a period of up to a maximum of ten school months, with return to coincide with the commencement of a term or semester.
3. If at the end of the agreed upon period of leave, the teacher is unable to return to duty because of ill health, the teacher shall present the Board with an acceptable medical certificate and shall qualify for sick leave provisions.
4. When a teacher has been granted extended maternity leave, the Board will permit the teacher to maintain participation in all benefit plans provided payment for the full cost of such benefits will be made in advance (each four (4) month period) by the teacher to the Board, for remittance to the carriers.
5. A teacher returning from short-term leave, within a school year, shall be reassigned to the same position held prior to the leave.
6. A teacher returning from extended leave shall be assigned to a reasonably comparable position within the District.
7. These items notwithstanding, a teacher may choose to apply for a transfer to another position.
8. Teachers shall confirm with the appropriate Administrator, their intention to return to work following the birth of the child at least thirty (30) calendar days prior to the expected date of return. Should the teacher wish to change the date of return, the requests shall be made to the Board at the earliest opportunity.
Extended Maternity Leave. Consistent with applicable laws, an employee may be eligible for time off beyond maternity leave to care for a newborn under the family medical leave act or through health leave or personal leave. An employee who requests and is granted an extension of leave beyond the period of her actual temporary disability shall, upon return to work, be reinstated to such employee’s former position, if vacant, or to the first available job opening for which the employee is qualified.
Extended Maternity Leave a. Extended Maternity Leave is leave beyond the term of short-term maternity leave.
b. The term of extended maternity leave shall not exceed one year and the commencement and return dates shall coincide with natural term breaks.
c. A teacher on extended maternity leave shall not receive experience recognition for the duration of the extended maternity leave.
d. For those benefits capable of being maintained, a teacher on extended maternity leave may upon prepayment of the total premiums, by post-dated cheques, have her benefits maintained by the Employer for the duration of the leave.
Extended Maternity Leave a. Four weeks prior to the expiry of Maternity Leave granted under Article G.22.1 a teacher may request Parental Leave as provided in the Employment Standards Act and Article G.23 of this agreement.
b. Four weeks prior to the expiry of Maternity Leave or Parental Leave, a teacher may request Extended Maternity Leave.
c. This leave shall be granted for a period of up to fifteen (15) school months, with the return to work coinciding with the commencement of a term or semester.
Extended Maternity Leave. 1. A teacher who has been granted a Maternity Leave, as per Article G.21 may be granted an Extended Maternity Leave upon the submission of a written application to the Superintendent of schools. This application should state the estimated starting and ending dates of the leave.
2. Maternity Leave in excess of the terms outlined in the Employment Standards Act shall be granted without pay and benefits and without security of assignment to a specific position, and the date of termination of the maternity leave shall be subject to a suitable position in the same community being available for reassignment. This leave may be granted for a period of up to one year.
3. It is the responsibility of the teacher to advise the Superintendent, in writing of their availability for reassignment and their teaching preferences, at least four (4) months prior to the expiration of the maternity leave.
4. If the position previously held does not exist, the Principal / Vice Principal, in consultation with the teaching staff of the school and the returning teacher, shall develop a teaching assignment for the returning teacher which includes any remaining elements of the position previously held.
5. The Superintendent shall attempt to satisfy the teacher's preferences, but failing that, the teacher shall be notified of any positions in the district for which they are deemed to be suitably qualified.
