Common use of Supplemental Coverage Clause in Contracts

Supplemental Coverage. The Port hereby agrees to the following coverage for Police Sergeants only, limited to bona fide duty disability. (a) For the first six (6) months of a duty disability the Port shall supplement amounts paid by certain offsets to a level equal to the base pay rate of the disabled Sergeant. Such benefit program offsets include but are not limited to state, federal, or other disability programs to which the Port has contributed such as the Public Employees' Retirement System, the Federal Social Security System, the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries programs (e.g. Workers' Compensation, Pension, and lump sum disability awards), and the Long Term Disability Coverage provided under Article 24 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. (b) In addition, the insurance premiums paid by the Port for insurance programs covered in this Labor Agreement shall continue on behalf of a Sergeant for the first six (6) months of a duty disability. (c) This coverage is also in compliance with RCW 41.04.510.

The Port hereby agrees to the following coverage for Police Sergeants Commanders only, limited to bona fide duty disability.: (a) For the first (1st) six (6) months of a duty disability disability, the Port shall supplement amounts paid by certain offsets to a level equal to the base pay rate of the disabled SergeantCommander. Such benefit program offsets include but are not limited to state, federal, or other disability programs to which the Port has contributed such as the Public Employees' Retirement System, the Federal Social Security System, the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries programs (e.g. Workers' Compensation, Pension, and lump sum disability awards), and the Long Term Disability Coverage provided under Article 24 of the Collective Bargaining this Agreement. (b) In addition, the insurance premiums paid by the Port for insurance programs covered in this Labor Agreement shall continue on behalf of a Sergeant Commander for the first (1st) six (6) months of a duty disability. (c) This coverage is also in compliance with RCW 41.04.510. (d) If a Commander becomes disabled as a result of duty-disability, the Officer will have his/her job rights protected for two (2) years from the date of the disability as defined below in Sections 24.03 and 24.04.
