Common use of Supplemental Coverage Clause in Contracts

Supplemental Coverage. The Port hereby agrees to the following coverage for police officers only, limited to bona fide duty disability. (a) For the first six (6) months of a duty disability the Port shall supplement amounts paid by any other benefit program (except personal disability policies not part of this Agreement that are paid for by the individual officer and except any shared leave received by the officer) to a level equal to the base pay rate of the disabled officer. Such benefit program offsets include but are not limited to state, federal, or other disability programs to which the Port has contributed such as the Public Employees' Retirement System, and time loss under the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries. (b) In addition, the insurance premiums paid by the Port for insurance programs covered in this Labor Agreement shall continue on behalf of an officer for the first six (6) months of a duty disability. (c) This coverage is in compliance with RCW 41.04.510.
