Each new teacher in his or her first three years in the classroom or first year in the District shall provide be assigned a mentor teacher. The selection of the Business Office mentors will be made in a timely manner through a collaborative effort between Building Administrators and the Association. Criteria in the selection of mentors will include: • Every effort will be made by the district to match mentors and new teachers who work in the same building and have a similar area of certification or assignment. • Consideration will be given to mentor and new teacher with any changes relative to: namea common planning time/lunch time when possible. If no common planning time is available, address, telephone number, and information on release time shall be arranged through the person building principal. • All appointments as mentor teachers will be voluntary. • Appointments for the mentor will be reviewed at the end of each semester or unless either party requests a change through their building principal or the selection committee. The mentor is to meet with the mentee at least four (4) hours per semester to be contacted in case of emergency.
