When it is determined, on the basis of a medical examination, that an employee is incapable of performing the duties of their position satisfactorily because of a physical or mental impairment which is likely to continue indefinitely or to recur frequently, the appointment may be terminated.

Termination for Medical Reasons. When it is determined, on the basis of a medical examination, that an employee is incapable of performing the duties of their position satisfactorily because of a physical or mental impairment which is likely to continue indefinitely or to recur frequently, the appointment may be terminated. Final decisions in this area will be made by the City Manager, based upon the recommendations of the medical examiner and the Department Head and in accordance with State law related to peace officer and public safety employees.
