Common use of Training and Development Clause in Contracts

Training and Development. Training and development to meet both the individual needs of employees and the service needs of employers should be placed firmly in the forefront of delivery plans. Employers and recognised unions shall co-operate to establish and implement local schemes on training and development. All training and development provision should be planned, delivered and monitored on the basis of equality of access for all, including part-timers. Resources for training and development should be shared equitably across all categories of staff. A skills audit will assist in establishing an overview of local training needs. The JNC endorses the target set out in Annex 7 of the “Transforming Youth Work Resourcing Excellent Youth Services” that local services in England should devote between 2% and 5% of the youth work budgets in training and development. Whilst this Agreement does not cover youth work in Wales, the JNC nevertheless endorses a similar target for youth work providers in Wales. The JNC recommends that workers attending or undertaking approved training and/or development are entitled to payment of normal earnings, all prescribed fees and other relevant expenses arising.
