Common use of Transfers and Seniority Outside the Bargaining Unit Clause in Contracts

Transfers and Seniority Outside the Bargaining Unit. No employee shall be transferred to a position outside the bargaining unit without his consent. If an employee accepts a position outside the bargaining unit, he shall retain his seniority acquired at the date of leaving the unit for a period of twelve months. If such an employee later returns to the bargaining unit after a period of twelve months has elapsed, his seniority will recommence from zero. Should an employee return to the unit before twelve months has elapsed, such return shall not result in the layoff or bumping of an employee holding greater seniority.
