I understand that cadets participate in organized off-site events which include but are not limited to, medical appointments, court hearings, educational field trips, training missions, etc. All off-site training missions are conducted with the highest regard for the safety and the well-being of each cadet in accordance with YCA and NGB standards. While participating in any off-site training/functions, cadets are required to follow all rules of conduct as specified in the YCA’s rules and regulations SOP and the Cadet Student Manual. By enrolling in the YCA, I give consent to allow participation in all YCA sanctioned off-site training, and agree to voluntarily release and forever discharge YCA, its employees, agents, representatives, and volunteers from any and all claims of liability or damages incurred as a result there of, from the time of departure to the time of return to YCA facilities. It is understood that nothing in this policy is intended to, nor shall it be construed to, release any insurance company or third-party agency from any obligation to pay under any liability insurance or other benefit. If an emergency/incident occurs, NAPCA Staff will call an ambulance to transport the student to the nearest hospital. Transportation Policy. 18.01 Whenever employees are required to operate a privately owned automobile in the course of their employment they shall receive a transportation allowance per kilometre to be paid in accordance with the Employer’s travel allowance policy. Any student organization using a university-owned vehicle, must comply with the following policies. ⚫ The driver of the vehicle must observe all traffic regulations including posted speed limits. ⚫ All occupants of the vehicle must wear seatbelts. ⚫ The use and/or possession of alcohol in state vehicles is prohibited. ⚫ State vehicles may not be driven to any event where alcohol is served. ⚫ Continued use of state vehicles is contingent upon compliance with the above regulations. ⚫ In the case of an accident, refer to emergency procedures located in the glove box of the vehicle. ⚫ Call State Police (off campus) or JMU Police (on campus). ⚫ Do not leave the scene of the accident. ⚫ Call Public Safety (000-0000 or 000-0000) as soon as physically able to call. ⚫ Call the Transportation Office (568-8147) as soon as possible after contacting Public Safety. ⚫ Call the Events & Conferences Office (568-6330). ⚫ Any damage, no matter how minor, must be reported to the Transportation Office and the Events & Conferences Office. ⚫ Decorating JMU vehicles and/or soaping or writing on vehicle windows is NOT permitted. ⚫ When using a JMU vehicle, you and your actions are representing the University. Transportation assistance will be provided to the identified parent/guardian via a 31-day bus pass. The adult transporting must also have a driving record which conforms to any standards that are required by FYM. Vehicles that are used for and during events shall meet all legal requirements. To protect our mentees, our mentors, and for liability purposes, only screened mentors may transport their mentee unless: ● The person transporting the mentee is another FYM mentor of the same sex ● The person transporting has been screened by FYM and is of the same sex of the mentee ● The mentor is with the mentee during the transportation process (i.e. mentor’s spouse, bus, taxi, church vehicle, etc.)
