Trent. ESL Instructor shall be defined as an individual who is employed through the Trent International Program to perform duties such as preparation and presentation of a Trent-ESL course, administration and marking, and participate in curriculum development. It is understood that when enrolment is low, the lower levels (Prep, 1 and 2) of a Trent ESL course may be combined. Should the higher levels need to be combined, the instructor may request marking support from the Manager, Trent ESL. Where levels are combined, enrolment shall not exceed 15 students. Duties also include regular communication with co-instructors with respect to student progress and term planning. Regular communication and support to students throughout the term is required, including maintaining regular office hours. The allocation of ESL contact hours and contact-related hours among the various duties shall be as assigned by the Manager, Trent-ESL, and shall be in accordance with 5.07.05. Any mandatory professional development activities that are in excess of the existing paid contact hours and prep hours will be compensated.
