TYPES OF TRANSFORMERS AND OPERATING CONDITIONS Sample Clauses

TYPES OF TRANSFORMERS AND OPERATING CONDITIONS. All Transformers shall be core type, mineral oil immersed, natural air cooled and shall be of the outdoor type. Where specified in Schedule 'G' transformers of the sealed type shall utilize a non-breathing gas cushion, or other provision to absorb the oil expansion. The volume of gas shall not be less than 25% of cold oil volume at 15 deg. C. The construction of the tank and cooling fins shall be sufficiently rigid to withstand the forces produced by expansion of hot oil within the limits of deflection stated in Clause 6.2.1 (f). Transformer tanks incorporating corrugated metal walls and/or ends may be offered but the design, methods of construction and testing of such tanks shall be subject to the approval of the Engineer. Transformers having flexible rubber membranes designed to accommodate increase in volume due to expansion shall not be offered. Care must be taken to ensure the dissipation of all heat generated due to tank losses when transformers are operating with natural cooling. Ventilation equipment will be provided for each transformer area if necessary to achieve the specified ONAN ratings. Wherever the word rating is mentioned, it shall indicate the transformer rating at 100% for 24 hours continuous use without forced cooling.
