Common use of Union Functions - Leave of Absence Clause in Contracts

Union Functions - Leave of Absence. The Employer may grant leave of absence without pay to an employee for the purpose of attending Union functions such as conventions, conferences, schools or seminars. Such leaves of absence may be restricted to one (1) employee at any one time. The Union agrees to notify the Employer in writing at least ten (10) calendar days prior to said functions. Employees on such leave will be paid by the Employer as if they had worked. The Employer will then bill the Union for all lost wages (including for clarity, contributions for EI, CPP, WCB or other statutory remittance) and the Union will remit payment promptly.
