UNION SECURITY AND DUES CHECK-OFF. 9.1 The Employer shall deduct from the pay of all employees on the first regular dues deduction date after completion of thirty (30) days of employment the amount of the monthly membership dues of the Union. 9.2 Deductions shall be made from the payroll period at the first of each month and shall be forwarded to the Secretary Treasurer of the National Union not later than the 30th day of that month, accompanied by a duplicate list of names of all employees from whom the deductions have been made. The Union shall keep the Employer advised of the name and address of the Secretary Treasurer. 9.3 Before the Employer is obliged to deduct any dues under this Article the Union must advise the Minister and the Employer by providing thirty (30) days notice in writing signed by the President and Treasurer of the Union, prior to the appropriate payroll date on which the amount of the new regular monthly dues are to be deducted. The Employer will ensure that the necessary steps are taken to effect an adjustment in payroll deductions. The amount as advised shall continue to be the amount of dues to be deducted under this Article until changed by a further written notice to the Minister and the Employer signed by the President and the Treasurer of the Union after which such changed amount shall be the amount to be deducted. 9.4 The sums deducted under this Article shall be accepted by the Union as the regular monthly dues of those employees who are, or shall become members of the Union and the sums so deducted from non-members of the Union shall be treated as their contribution towards the expenses of maintaining the Union. 9.5 The Union agrees to indemnify and save the Employer harmless from any liability or action arising out of the operation of this Article. 9.6 The Union assumes full responsibility for the disposition of any sums deducted from the wages of any employee and remitted to the Treasurer of the Union under this Article.
