Accrual of Vacation Leave. 1. Vacation hours shall accrue each pay period at one twenty-sixth (1/26) of the annual accrual rate (i.e., annual accrual rate divided by 26). 2. Exceptions to the maximum allowable accruals may be granted by the City Manager, or his/her designee, to meet exceptional departmental staffing needs. 3. No vacation shall be authorized, for leave or payment, unless accrued prior to the time for use or payment, except as authorized by the City Manager.
Accrual of Vacation Leave. ‌ A. A member of the bargaining unit who is employed on a twelve (12) month basis shall be allowed vacation leave, exclusive of holidays, with compensation as follows: 1) An employee with less than five (5) years of continuous service at a rate of one (1) day per month, cumulative to twelve (12) work days per year. 2) An employee with five (5) years or more continuous service at a rate of one and one-quarter (1.25) days per month, cumulative to fifteen (15) workdays per year. 3) An employee with ten (10) years or more of continuous service at a rate of one and one-half (1.5) days per month, cumulative to eighteen (18) workdays per year. B. Accrued vacation leave shall not exceed sixty-two and one-half (62 ½) work days maximum on June 30 of each year. Vacation leave may be granted by the Superintendent upon the written request of the employee, with prior recommendation by the employee’s supervisor. Vacation leave for an employee shall be scheduled so that there will be minimum disruption of the operation of the School District. Upon employment termination, the employee shall be paid as terminal leave all unused vacation leave as follows: 1) (EMPLOYEE WHO HAS 60 OR FEWER DAYS ON JUNE 30, 2001 OR WHO WAS HIRED AFTER JULY 1, 1995) Each employee who has accumulated 60 or fewer days of unused vacation leave as of June 30, 2001 or who was hired by the District after July 1, 1995 will be paid for all of his/her unused vacation days accumulated at the time of termination of employment, up to a maximum of 60 days. 2) (EMPLOYEE WHO WAS HIRED PRIOR TO JULY 1, 1995, WHO HAS MORE THAN 60 DAYS ON JULY 1, 1995 AND AT SOME TIME AFTER THAT DATE THE ACCUMULATION FALLS TO OR BELOW 60 DAYS) Section 1 Accrual of Vacation Leave (cont’d) 3) (EMPLOYEE WHO WAS HIRED PRIOR TO JULY 1, 1995, WHO HAS MORE THAN 60 DAYS ON JULY 1, 1995 AND MAINTAINS AN ACCUMULATION GREATER THAN 60 DAYS AT ALL TIMES) Each employee who was hired by the District prior to July 1, 1995, who accumulated more than 60 days of unused vacation leave as of July 1, 1995 and who maintains an accumulation of greater than 60 days of unused vacation leave days at all times after July 1, 1995, will be paid for all of his/her unused vacation days accumulated at the time of termination of employment, up to a maximum of 62½ days. Accrual of Vacation Leave a. Eligible employees hired or rehired and working on a full-time permanent basis shall earn vacation leave based on months of service at the following rates for each pay period: HOURS PER MONTHS SERVICE PAY PERIOD ACCRUED 0-24 3.08 25-96 4.62 97-180 5.54 181 and over 6.15 b. Vacation leave may not be accumulated to exceed 240 hours at the beginning of any calendar year. Prior to the end of the calendar year, employees with more than 240 hours of leave will be given the option of placing the hours above 240 in the catastrophic leave bank in accordance with Article 24, Sick Leave, Section 3, Catastrophic Leave Program, sell - back vacation leave subject to the conditions outlined in Section 4 (b) herein, or lose the leave. If an employee selects none of the options, then the excess hours will automatically be placed in the catastrophic leave bank.

Accrual of Vacation Leave. Employees shall complete six (6) months of continuous service with the Agency before using accrued vacation leave. Each employee shall be entitled to vacation accrual as follows: From date of employment to the fourth (4th) anniversary of full-time continuous service = 10 days/80 hours per year. From the day after the fourth (4th) anniversary to the eighth (8th) anniversary of full-time continuous service = 15 days/120 hours. From the day after the eighth (8th) anniversary of continuous service and beyond = 20 days/160 hours.

For a professional staff unit member who has completed twenty (20) full years of service or more shall be granted vacation leave of 0.096153 hours per hour of employment for a total of twenty-five (25) days of vacation leave. B. Notwithstanding the above, no unit member hired before June 30, 2019, shall have their vacation accrual rate reduced below their current accrual rate as a result of the implementation of the above accrual rate schedule. However, the above accrual rate schedule will determine all future accrual rates for current unit members as they accrue more years of service. C. Notwithstanding anything above, all unit members who have reached twenty-five (25) years of service by June 30, 2021, shall be entitled to begin accruing thirty (30) days of vacation leave on their anniversary date if still on active payroll service.

For a professional staff unit member who has completed twenty-five (25) years or more of service on June 30 of any vacation year shall be granted 0.115384 hours per hour of employment for a total of 225 hours of vacation leave [2.50 days for each full calendar month for a total of thirty (30) days of vacation leave].

Accrual of Vacation Leave. Part-time employees who work an average of 19 hours per week or more shall accrue pro-rated vacation leave benefits. Vacation leave will not accumulate while an employee is on a leave of absence, short-term disability or long-term disability.
