Unsatisfactory Sick Leave Record. 6.1 Employees will be deemed to have an unsatisfactory sick leave record if they are absent on more than eight separate occasions during a twelve-month period. 6.1.1 These employees will receive a warning letter advising them of their unsatisfactory record, and requesting that they improve this. 6.2 If the employee’s sick leave record fails to improve within a period of six months, they will receive a further letter of warning and the requirement to produce a medical certificate for all further absences on sick leave. 6.2.1 Failure to produce a medical certificate will result in the leave being debited from their annual leave bank or the imposition of leave without pay. 6.3 Further incidents of unsatisfactory sick leave record will result in disciplinary action being taken.   • Sick Leave Records A record of all unused sick leave will be kept by the Employer. Immediately after the close of each calendar year, each employee shall be advised of the amount of sick leave accrued to their credit.

This section is not applicable until the effective date of such legislation has been reached.

  • Sick Leave Abuse ‌ When the Employer suspects sick leave abuse, the employee will be provided the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding their sick leave use prior to disciplining the employee, or making reference to sick leave use in the employee’s performance evaluation. The Employer may not adopt or enforce any policy that counts the use of paid sick leave time as an absence that may lead to or result in disciplinary action for an authorized purpose. The Employer may not discriminate or retaliate against an employee for the use of paid sick leave for an authorized purpose.

  • Accumulated Sick Leave ‌ The Employer shall inform all employees at least once each year of the number of sick days accumulated and shall make the information available to an employee on request.

  • Sick Leave Entitlement A permanent full-time employee shall earn paid sick leave at the rate of one and one-half (1½) days per month. Sick leave shall accumulate to a total of eighty-five (85) working days. Permanent part-time employees shall be entitled to sick leave on a pro-rata basis.

  • Reinstatement of Vacation Days - Sick Leave In the event an employee is sick or injured prior to the commencement of his/her vacation, such employee shall be granted sick leave and the vacation period so displaced shall be added to the vacation period if requested by the employee and by mutual agreement, or shall be reinstated for use at a later date.
