Use and Scheduling of Vacation. 29.3.1 Except as provided in Section 29.3.5, vacation leave must be scheduled with the advance approval of the employee’s supervisor. Vacation leave will be granted for the time requested by the employee; provided that the needs of the University department will not be substantially impaired. If the nature of the work makes it necessary to limit the number of employees on leave at the same time, the employee(s) with the greatest seniority will be given her/his choice of available vacation periods. Supervisors will promptly approve or deny requests for vacation but in no case more than seven (7) days following the request. Upon request, written reasons will be promptly provided to the employee if the requested vacation is denied.
