Use of Substitutes. When a teacher is ill for a full day or attending a conference approved by the superintendent, the Board will hire a qualified substitute teacher or teacher aide to teach his/her classes, unless the number of classes is such that an administrator could cover them. Teachers would not be asked to substitute except in cases of emergency. When an aide has the sole responsibility for teaching a classroom, he/she must be qualified as required by current state law and will be paid the rate of a substitute teacher.
