Common use of Use of Substitutes Clause in Contracts

Use of Substitutes. When it is evident that an employee is not able to assume his/her daily assignment, a qualified regular employee, available for work for the entire period of such assignment, will be given priority before said assignment is given to a substitute. This action does not authorize employment exceeding eight (8) hours per day or forty (40) hours per week. Available employees who agree to substitute will be paid at the base rate of the position in which they are substituting. Volunteers shall not be used to replace absent employees.
