VACANCIES, TRANSFERS AND PROMOTIONS. A. A vacancy shall be defined as any position, either newly created or a present position, which is not filled, that the Board wishes to fill. Substitutes or temporary employees from outside the bargaining unit will not be used to fill a vacant position for longer than twenty (20) working days. The Board shall use a current bargaining unit member for longer than twenty (20) days in the case of filling a position created by a bargaining unit member being on leave, if another bargaining unit member is interested in doing so and meets the job requirements as described in IX c. B. If a bargaining unit member chooses to displace another bargaining unit member in the unit, they must first displace the least senior member within their classification. However, if the member is unable to displace another bargaining unit member in the same classification and still maintain their current hours, they may then choose to displace the least senior bargaining unit member in the bargaining unit closest to their hours regardless of classification provided they are qualified and possess the necessary skills under the guidelines in Article IX C of the Agreement. C. All vacancies shall be posted in the main office, kitchen, and couriers/custodial/maintenance personnel break room of each building of the District, staff lounge and in the mechanic’s workroom of the bus garage for a minimum period of ten (10) days. Posting will indicate: 1. Type of work 2. Location of work 3. Starting date

Hiring shall not take place until the ten (10) day posting period has expired. Posting will indicate: 1. Type of work 2. Location of work 3. Starting date
