VACATION AND SICK LEAVE BANKS. 1. Upon layoff, vacation and sick hours accumulated but unused at the time of layoff shall be available for cash out as provided in Articles 9 and 10 of this agreement. If this option is selected, the laid off employee's vacation and sick leave banks shall cease to exist. 2. As an alternative, upon layoff, an employee may request that the hours accumulated but unused in his/her vacation and sick leave banks at the time of his/her layoff be held and credited to him/her upon his/her recall. If this option is selected, no cash out shall occur.
