Vacation Requests. (a) Vacations will be scheduled bi-annually at times mutually convenient to the Hospital and the employee. Up to and including February 15th and August 15th dates of a given year, employees shall note their 1st and 2nd choices for vacation in writing (including alternatives, if they so wish) and shall be given preference as to their selection of vacation on the basis of their Hospital seniority in the unit. Submission Deadline Vacation Period February 15th May 1st to October 31st August 15th November 1st to April 30th Vacation requests presented prior to February 15th will be considered for the period from May 1st to October 31st of the current year. Vacation requests presented prior to August 15th will be considered for the period from November 1st of the current year to April 30th of the following year. Employees may not cancel vacation to exercise this option. If all employees decline the option to take vacation during the time offered, the process will revert to first come, first served basis. (c) A full time or part-time employee who would otherwise be scheduled to work on a weekend may not request more than five (5) such scheduled weekends for vacation during such calendar year, provided that a block of vacation of one (1) week or more will not be included in the above. In addition to the above, full-time DDNN schedule employees may request a minimum of two (2) partial week-ends (where scheduling permits the Hospital shall offer additional week-ends) provided that a block of vacation of one (1) week or more will not be included in the above. (d) Employees on each Unit and the Bargaining Unit President and Site VP at the respective sites will be advised of the minimum vacation and lieu quotas on their unit prior to February 1st of each year. Both the lieu and vacation quotas are considered to be minimums. Employees may request additional vacation and lieu time within the appropriate request time prior to the schedule being posted. If, operationally, there is an ability to approve more time off the manager or designate will do so. Approval of additional time will not be unreasonably denied.

Vacation Requests. A. Annual Vacation Scheduling Procedure The annual vacation leave period will be January through December. The vacation scheduling procedure shall be as follows: 1. Leave request forms will be distributed with a sample copy of the upcoming year’s vacation calendar by October 1st. 2. Leave request forms shall be returned by employees by November 1st. 3. Annual vacation calendars will be published and posted by December 1st. 4. Employees may request any two vacation periods, designating them as “first plan” and “second plan.” Although forty (a40) Vacations hour blocks of vacation are preferable for scheduling convenience, intermittent vacation (in periods of 8 hours or more each) may be scheduled. 5. Employees will be granted eighty (80) hours of vacation yearly based on this vacation scheduling procedure. Every possible effort will be made to accommodate a longer period of time if requested by the employee. 6. Vacation periods will be scheduled bi-annually at times mutually convenient to by unit seniority for the Hospital and first eighty (80) hours of each employee’s vacation schedule for the employeeyear. Vacation Requests. (For 11- and 12-Month Classifications a) Vacations Requests for vacation shall be submitted on the District forms as required by the District to the immediate supervisor no later than May 30th to do advance scheduling of vacation for the following fiscal year. Vacation Requests. (a) Vacations will be scheduled bi-annually at All vacation times mutually convenient requested are subject to the Hospital needs of the Department. Preference of choice of vacation dates shall be given preference as to their selection of vacation on determined by seniority by classification at the basis of their Hospital seniority in the unit. Submission Deadline Vacation Period February 15th May 1st to October 31st August 15th November 1st to April 30th Vacation requests presented prior to February 15th will be considered for the period from May 1st to October 31st of the current year. Vacation requests presented prior to August 15th will be considered for the period from November 1st of the current year to April 30th of the following year. After the February 15th and August 15th dates, employee request shall be granted on a first come, first served basis. Where the Hospital determines that vacation becomes available after the vacation schedule is posted, the Unit Manager or designate will offer the time in order of seniority to employees who requested and were denied these days in the annual vacation request process. Employees may not cancel vacation to exercise this option. If all employees decline the option to take vacation during the time offered, the process will revert to first come, first served basisSite Care Home/Program. (b) Vacations requested prior to All Employees shall indicate their choice of vacation period(s) between February 15th 1st and March 31st of each vacation year. (c) The Employer shall be posted by March 31st. Vacations requested prior to August 15th shall be posted by September 30th. The Unit Manager or designate will respond to all other vacation requestsrespond, in writing/electronically, to the vacation requests by April 30th. For vacation requests outside of the period in Clause 25.03(b), the Employer shall respond, in writing, within fourteen (14) calendar days of such written/electronic the request. Explanation of how vacation requests are approved will be provided upon the request of the employee. (c) A full time or part-time employee who would otherwise be scheduled to work on a weekend may not request more than five (5) such scheduled weekends for vacation during such calendar year, provided that a block of vacation of one (1) week or more will not be included in the above. In addition to the above, full-time DDNN schedule employees may request a minimum of two (2) partial week-ends (where scheduling permits the Hospital shall offer additional week-ends) provided that a block of vacation of one (1) week or more will not be included in the above. (d) Employees on each Unit Any Employee who fails to submit her their vacation requests by March 31st shall not be entitled to exercise seniority rights in respect to any vacation time previously selected by an Employee with less seniority. (e) The Employer shall make every reasonable effort to grant an Employee, upon request, at least two (2) weeks of annual vacation entitlement during July and/or August. No Employee shall be allowed more than two (2) weeks in July or August until all staff have had an opportunity for two (2) weeks vacation in July or August. (f) Vacation shall be taken in the year that it is earned. (g) An Employee shall be permitted to maintain a level of vacation accrual up to one (1) year’s vacation entitlement plus an additional ten (10) days. Vacation entitlements greater than one (1) year’s vacation entitlement plus an additional ten (10) days shall be paid out by January 15 failing mutual agreement between the Employee and the Bargaining Unit President and Site VP Employer to carry it forward. Employees with a vacation accrual greater than one (1) year’s vacation may request to have the excess vacation paid out at the respective sites will be advised any time. Employees who have vacation banks in excess of the minimum vacation and lieu quotas on their unit prior new provision in Clause 25.03 (g) shall have until June 30, 2016 to February 1st of each year. Both the lieu and vacation quotas are considered to be minimums. Employees may request additional vacation and lieu time within the appropriate request time prior conform to the schedule being posted. If, operationally, there is one (1) year’s vacation entitlement plus an ability to approve more time off the manager or designate will do so. Approval of additional time will not be unreasonably deniedten (10) days limit.
