Alternative Assets means derivatives, real estate, commodities, private placements, loans, infrastructure holdings, private equity holdings, hedge fund holdings or such other assets (i) not typically held in book-entry form and (ii) not typically held in accounts registered in the name of the Custodian or a Subcustodian, in each case as determined by the Custodian.
Alternative Assets means, in connection with any proposed Asset Disposition pursuant to the terms of Section 8.4(b)(v), fixed assets (whether new, additional or replacement assets but exclusive of assets acquired in the course of regular upkeep and maintenance) which are similar in nature or purpose to other assets owned or leased by the Borrower and/or its Subsidiaries prior to or at the time of the acquisition of such fixed assets and useful in the conduct of the business of the Borrower and its Subsidiaries as permitted to be conducted pursuant to Section 8.3.
Alternative Assets means interests in limited partnerships, limited liability companies, companies or other vehicles and any other unrated assets generally filed on Schedule BA of a life insurance company’s annual financial statement.
Examples of Alternative Assets in a sentence
For Alternative Assets such as investments in limited liability companies, limited partnerships, hedge funds, and other similar entities, the Account Owner directs the Custodian to obtain the FMV of the Account Owner’s Alternative Assets from the investment entity itself and hereby appoints each such entity as the Valuation Agent for the Account’s investment in the entity itself.
It is the Account Owner’s responsibility to determine and provide the valuation of Alternative Assets to the Custodian.

Alternative Assets has the meaning set forth in Section 5.21(f)(i).
Alternative Assets means investments that are not publicly traded, many of which are also generally considered illiquid and may include, without limitation, real estate, promissory notes, mortgages, precious metals, and interests in certain entities, including but not limited to limited liability companies, limited partnerships, private equity funds and hedge funds. For purposes of this Agreement, the term “Alternative Assets” also includes a brokerage account (including an account that is used to trade in futures) that is held as an asset of the Account. Alternative Assets means (i) electric power generation facilities (including hydroelectric, gas- and coal- fired power plants and wind and emerging alternative forms of power generating facilities), and debt or equity securities issued by, or other equity interests (including joint venture interests) in, companies primarily engaged in the operation or development of such facilities, (ii) timberlands and timber, directly or through freehold or leasehold interests, and debt or equity securities issued by, or other equity interests (including joint venture interests) in, companies primarily engaged in the ownership or operation of timberlands, (iii) other physical infrastructure assets and debt or equity securities issued by, or other equity interests (including joint venture interests) in, companies primarily engaged in the operation or development of physical infrastructure assets, (iv) private equity investment funds, including any sponsored by Affiliates of the Sub-Advisor, and (v) any other alternative asset category designated by the Board of Directors.
