Casual nurses definition

Casual nurses. A casual nurse is someone who is hired to provide 7 coverage as needed by the Hospital, with no guarantee of any 8 minimum or maximum hours. Casual nurses must be available to be 9 scheduled a minimum of three (3) vacant shifts per calendar month of 10 their choice, one (1) of which must be on a weekend, to be specified 11 by the nurse by 5:00 pm on the 1st of the month prior to the posted 12 work schedule. Additionally, a casual nurse must be available to work 13 one (1) major holiday per year, i.e., Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor 14 Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day for day shifts, 15 and the “Eve” of above holidays for night shifts. If a casual nurse fails 16 to meet the above requirement twice in a calendar year, the nurse will 17 receive a letter that if they fail to meet this requirement again their 18 employment with the Hospital may will be terminated if determined by 19 the hospital. Examples of Casual nurses in a sentence

  • Casual nurses required to work on Remembrance Day shall be paid at the rate of double their basic rate of pay.

  • Casual nurses must make themselves available for a minimum of one (1) shift every three (3) months.
