Sensitive land uses are generally defined as locations where people reside or where the presence of air emissions could adversely affect the use of the land.

Note to Subclause 1: Sensitive land uses include, but are not limited to, place of public worship, churches, schools, transport nodes, residential dwellings, childcare centres, family health centres, senior citizens centres, licensed premises (licensed under the Liquor Act 1982) and facilities and places typically frequented by families or children.
Sensitive land uses may also include areas that contain threatened or endangered biological species known to be sensitive to noise.
Sensitive land uses may be limited in the implementing zoning (through massing, siting, buffering, and design mitigation measures) in proximity to the “Rail Yard” and “Existing Industrial Lands” to ensure compatibility.
