Sessional employment definition

Sessional employment means the casual employment of academic Teaching Associate staff who are appointed to undertake a single or specific number of sessions related to demonstrating, tutoring, lecturing, marking, supervision, academic research assistance, music accompanying with special educational service, undergraduate clinical nurse education or other required academic activity.
Sessional employment means employment in posi- tions of legislative agencies that require the services of an employee more than 600 hours in any 26 consecutive full biweekly payroll periods and which normally permits attainment of permanent status in class through successive reinstatements, but the duration of which is closely related to the legislative ses- sion.
Sessional employment means Academic employment on a non-continuing basis for a number of programmed engagements over a specified period during the year, and for whichpayment is made at an hourly rate. In the case of an academic sessional staff member, such engagements will normally be related to a teaching session as set out in the University calendar. Sessional employment or “Sessional Staff Member” means the employment of an Academic Staff Member who is employed and paid on an hourly basis.
