Soft Dollars definition

Soft Dollars means arrangements under which products or services, other than the execution of securities transactions, are obtained from or through a broker in exchange for the direction by the Insurer of transactions to the broker. Soft dollars include research and advisory services, economic and political analyses, portfolio analyses, market analyses, data and quotation services, and computer hardware and software used for and/or in support of the investment process of the Insurer.
Soft Dollars means brokerage transactions and/or payment of a portion of client commissions that BBH directs to specific brokers or dealers or other providers to pay for research or other appropriate services which provide, in BBH’s view, appropriate assistance to BBH in the investment decision-making process.

Soft Dollars. A provision of the Proposed Advisory Agreement explicitly allows KeyCorp Advisers to select brokers or dealers who also provide brokerage and research services (as those terms are defined in Section 28(e) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934) to KeyCorp Advisers, the Funds and/or the other accounts over which KeyCorp Advisers exercises investment discretion, and provides that KeyCorp Advisers may pay a broker or dealer who provides such brokerage and research services a commission for executing a portfolio transaction for a Fund which is in excess of the amount of commission another broker or dealer would have charged for effecting that transaction if KeyCorp Advisers determines in good faith that the total commission is reasonable in relation to the value of the brokerage and research services provided by such broker or dealer, viewed in terms of either that particular transaction or the overall responsibilities of KeyCorp Advisers with respect to accounts over which it exercises investment discretion.
