A voluntary resignation or a discharge shall terminate seniority. Seniority shall terminate after six (6) months of unemployment (layoff), absence on authorized furlough or because of sickness or accident disability with respect to employees having less than three (3) years of accumulated seniority; after one (1) year of unemployment (layoff) or absence through any such case with respect of employees having three (3) but less than ten (10) years of accumulated seniority and after two (2) years of unemployment (layoff) or absence through any such cause with respect of employees having ten (10) or more years of accumulated seniority.
