Acting Foremen. The Employer has the discretion to appoint an Acting Xxxxxxx to fill a temporary vacancy or during the period in which a Xxxxxxx position is being posted.
Acting Foremen a. If the xxxxxxx of a crew is absent, an individual with a classification of 38 or higher in the crew shall be designated as Acting Xxxxxxx and shall receive a wage supplement of ten (10) percent of his regular wage rate for time earned serving as Acting Xxxxxxx. Payment shall be computed to year-end and paid in the first convenient pay period in January and, in no event, later than the last pay period in January. The Director shall maintain records indicating the time earned by each employee for his/her Acting Xxxxxxx'x work. No payment for Acting Xxxxxxx shall be made for assignments of less than one full working day.
Acting Foremen. The Company may select, without bidding, employees to act in the absence of Foremen, who shall receive a premium of $1.25 per hour over their base rate while performing such xxxxxxx duties for one day or more. The number, selection and removal of such acting xxxxxxx designation shall be at the Company's discretion and shall not be subject to grievance and arbitration. Such appointments shall be limited to times foremen are on vacation, absent due to illness, leave of absence or unforeseen circumstances and shall not be considered a transfer outside the bargaining unit under Article XII, Section 10. Whenever an acting xxxxxxx is appointed, all affected employees will be informed of who is performing this duty.
