Common use of Approved Leave of Absence During Vacation Clause in Contracts

Approved Leave of Absence During Vacation. (a) Where an Employee’s scheduled vacation is interrupted due to illness or disability requiring the employee to be an in-patient in a hospital, the period of hospitalization and the recovery period shall be considered sick leave. (b) The portion of the employee’s vacation which is deemed to be sick leave under the above provision will not be counted against the employee’s vacation credits.

(a) Where an Employee’s employee's scheduled vacation is interrupted due to serious illness or disability which commenced prior to and continues into the scheduled vacation period, the period of such illness shall be considered sick leave. (b) Where a scheduled vacation is interrupted due to a bereavement, the employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave in accordance with Article 19.01. The portion of the employee’s vacation which is deemed to be sick bereavement leave under the above provision will not be counted against the employee’s vacation credits.
