Assessment While on Probation. Since probation is the final step in the selection process, the following procedure will be followed as a minimum in the evaluation process: a) Performance requirements established by the Employer will be communicated to the employee, in writing, at the outset and discussed during the employee’s probationary period. Performance requirements will be established based on the classification specification and the job description and will include the responsibilities, knowledge, skills, and abilities appropriate to the job. b) The immediate supervisor shall evaluate performance by direct observation on at least two (2) different occasions. c) Two (2) written performance assessments will be completed for each employee during the probationary period. Performance assessments will be conducted at: - two (2) and five (5) months in the case of a six (6) month probationary period - five (5) and eleven (11) months in the case of a twelve (12) month probationary period - additional performance assessments may be conducted at the discretion of the employer. d) Performance assessments will be discussed with the employee and shall be signed by the employee to indicate awareness of the assessment. A current job description is required when the final probationary review is complete. In all cases the employee will be given a copy of any performance assessment.
