Assignment of Work. (a) Where additional non-recurring shifts or pre-scheduled shifts in a regular part-time position, or less than ten (10) consecutive pre-scheduled shifts in a full-time position become available due to the absence of the incumbent in that position, preference for assignment to such available shift(s) shall be offered in order of seniority to available regular part-time employees qualified and able to perform the work and working in the same classification, department, and Campus at which the work is being performed. and part-time relief employees to declare their availability for shifts which may become available pursuant to (ia) and above on a temporary absence of form provided by the incumbent in Hospital, and where such is the case and a position part-time employee has not declared availability for a period greater during which a shift becomes available, the Hospital will be entitled to offer the available shift to the next employee entitled to such shift pursuant to (a) and above. The Hospital may require regular part-time and part-time relief employees to declare their willingness to replace in positions pursuant to and above on a form provided by the Hospital. The Hospital will have no obligation to offer work in such positions to those employees who have failed to declare their willingness to work. During the period of time an employee is replacing another employee pursuant to and above, shall not be considered for any overlapping work opportunity. No full-time employee in the Ambulance Department shall be transferred by the Hospital to another division or worksite, nor be required to work at more than twenty-six (26) weeks;
(ii) a situation referred one division or without his consent. Exchange of Shifts Employees may request to exchange shifts and/or days off with the written consent of their immediate supervisor. Requests must be submitted in Article 2.01 for a period greater than twenty-sixwriting to their supervisor in advance, be by the employees willing to exchange shifts days off, and be authorized by the supervisor before the exchange can take place. Such permission shall not be unreasonably denied. Exchange of shifts and/or days shall not result in overtime payments or time off with pay. (e) Where ten (10) or more consecutive pre-scheduled shifts From January 1st to January 15th annually each employee in the Operations Branch of the Public Works Department shall exercise yard choice, provided however, Management at any time will make the decision on the total complement of employees who shall work from any yard. Except from January 1st to 15th, employees designated to work in a full-time position become given yard will not be allowed to exercise their seniority in another yard.
(f) Those employees in the Pollution Control Branch who previously worked in the Operations Branch may exercise their seniority rights on a Department wide basis from January 1st to January 15th provided however, that replacements must be available due before they are transferred to the absence other work. Once this select number of the incumbentemployees have exercised their seniority rights to move out of Pollution Control Branch, preference for assignment to such position shall they will not be offered in order of seniority to regular part-time employees qualified and able to perform bump back again, provided however, this will not affect the work, right of these employees to apply for a posting to fill a vacancy in the same classification, department, and Campus at which Branch.
(g) Notwithstanding the work is being performed. Such regular part-time employee will maintain his regular part-time status, however, for the purpose provisions of Article 14.01 he shall be deemed to be a full-time employee. (iii) if the department head approves a written request of the employee to come out of the lower classification. (f) Where the requirements of paragraph (e) above have been met and shifts as described in (e) above remain available, preference for assignment into such position(s) shall be offered in order of seniority to casual employees qualified and able to perform the work, and working in the same classification, department, and Campus at which the work is being performed. Such casual employee will maintain his casual status, however, for the purpose of Article 14.01 he shall be deemed to be a full- time employee.
(g) Where a full-time or regular part-time position becomes vacant due to:
(i) a temporary absence of the incumbent in a position for a period greater than twenty-six (26) weeks;
(ii) a situation referred to in Article 2.01 for a period greater than twenty-six

Assignment of Work. β
(a) Where additional non-recurring shifts or pre-scheduled shifts in a regular part-time position, or less than ten (10) consecutive pre-pre- scheduled shifts in a full-time position become available due to the absence of the incumbent in that position, preference for assignment to such available shift(s) shall be offered in order of seniority to available regular part-time employees qualified and able to perform the work and working in the same classification, department, and Campus at which the work is being performed. This will not require the Hospital to offer such available shifts to such regular part-time employees where it would result in the payment of overtime.
(b) Where the requirements of paragraph (a) above have been met, shifts as described above which remain available shall be equitably offered to available casual employees qualified and able to perform the work and working in the same classification, department, and Campus at which the work is being performed. This will not require the Hospital to offer such available shifts to such casual employees where it would result in the payment of overtime.
(c) Where the requirements of paragraph (b) above have been met at a given campus, and there remains additional non-recurring shifts or pre- scheduled shifts in a regular part-time position, or less than ten (10) consecutive pre-scheduled shifts in a full-time position available due to the absence of the incumbent in that position at that campus, preference for assignment to such available shift(s)shall be offered in order of seniority to available regular part-time employees qualified and able to perform the work and working in the same classification and department at other Campuses. This will not require the Hospital to offer such available shifts to such regular part-time employees where it would result in the payment of overtime.
(d) Where the requirements of paragraph (c) above have been met, shifts as described above which remain available shall be equitably offered to available casual employees qualified and able to perform the work and working in the same classification and department at other Campuses. This will not require the Hospital to offer such available shifts to such casual employees where it would result in the payment of overtime.
(e) Where ten (10) or more consecutive pre-scheduled shifts in a full-time position become available due to the absence of the incumbent, preference for assignment to such position shall be offered in order of seniority to regular part-time employees qualified and able to perform the work, in the same classification, department, and Campus at which the work is being performed. Such regular part-time employee will maintain his regular part-time status, however, for the purpose of Article 14.01 he shall be deemed to be a full-time employee. The pre-scheduled shifts in the position of such regular part-time employee shall be offered in accordance with (a) and (b) above. Assignments referred to in this provision will not be subject to extension except in cases where the assignment results from an approved leave of absence (paid or unpaid) of an employee and the employee requests and is granted an extension of his period of leave.
