Bending Sample Clauses

Bending. Reinforcing steel shall conform accurately to the dimensions shown on the plans. A hook at tlle end of a bar shall be of form C and shall have an inner diamete, of the least four times the diameter of the bar. The length of the straight bars beyond the end of the curve to the end of the hook shall be at least four times the dia of the bar. Bars shall not be bent or straightened in a manner that will injure the materials Bars with kinds or bends shall not be used. Bars shall be bent cold to the shape and dimension as shown in the drawings or as directed by the Superintending Engineer using xxx xxxxxx operated by hand or power to obtain the proper radii of bends. The radii of all bends shall conform to the requirements given below: The internal radius expressed in bar diameters of a bend in a reinforcing bar shall not be less than the , value obtained by dividing the stress developed in the steel at the commencement of the bend by four times the permissible stress in the concrete in direct compression where the minimum concrete cover is used, and not less than two-thirds this value where conditions are such that there is no danger of splitting the concrete. .

Bending. The first two sentences of the first paragraph are deleted and replaced with the following two new sentences: Steel reinforcing bars shall be cut and bent cold to the shapes shown on the Plans. Fabrication tolerances shall be in accordance with ACI 315. SECTION 9-10, PILING
Bending. Unless otherwise specified, reinforcing steel shall be bent in accordance with procedure specified in IS: 2502 - (latest revision) or as approved by the Engineer. Bends and shapes shall comply strictly with the dimensions in the approved Bar Bending Schedule. Contractor shall be entirely responsible for its correctness. Bars correctly bent shall only be used. No reinforcement shall be bent when in position in the work without approval of the Engineer, whether or not is partially embedded in concrete. Bars shall not be straightened in a manner that will injure the materials. Re-bending can be done only if approved by the Engineer. Reinforcement bars shall be bent by machine or other approved means producing a gradual and even motion. All the bars shall be cold bent unless otherwise approved.
Bending a. Reinforcement bars supplied bent or in coils, shall be straightened before they are cut to size. Straightening of bars shall be done cold and without damaging the bars. b. All bars shall be accurately bent according to the sizes and shapes. They shall be bent gradually by machine or other approved means. Reinforcing bars shall not be straightened and in a manner that will injure the material; bars containing cracks or splits shall be rejected. They shall be bend cold, except bars or over 25mm in diameter which may be bent hot if specifically approved by the Engineer. Bars, which depend for their strength on cold working, shall not be bent hot. Bars bent hot shall not be treated beyond cherry red colour (not exceeding 845ºC) and after bending shall be allowed to cool slowly without quenching. Bars incorrectly bent shall be used only if the means used for straightening and rebending be such as shall not, in the opinion of the Engineer, injure the material. No reinforcement shall be bent when in position in the work without approval, whether or not it is partially embedded in hardened concrete. Bars having kinks or bends other than those required by design shall not be used.

  • Dewatering (a) Where the whole of a site is so affected by surface water following a period of rain that all productive work is suspended by agreement of the Parties, then dewatering shall proceed as above with Employees so engaged being paid at penalty rates as is the case for safety rectification work. This work is typically performed by Employees engaged within CW1, CW2 or CW3 classifications. When other Employees are undertaking productive work in an area or areas not so affected then dewatering will only attract single time rates. (b) Where a part of a site is affected by surface water following a period of rain, thus rendering some areas unsafe for productive work, consistent with the Employer’s obligations under the OH&S Act, appropriate Employees shall assist in the tidying up of their own work site or area if it is so affected. Where required, appropriate Employees will be provided with the appropriate PPE. Such work to be paid at single time rates. Productive work will continue in areas not so affected. (c) To avoid any confusion any ‘dewatering’ time which prevents an Employee from being engaged in their normal productive work is not included in any calculation for the purposes of determining whether an Employee is entitled to go home due to wet weather (refer clauses 32.4 and 32.5)
