Common use of Breaks and Meal Period Clause in Contracts

Breaks and Meal Period. A meal period of sixty (60) minutes will be granted each shift in excess of six (6) hours but will not be considered part of the regular workday or compensated for. By mutual consent, the meal period may be reduced to thirty (30) minutes. All employees working four (4) hours per day shall receive one (1) ten (10) minute rest period. All employees working more than four (4) hours and up to and including six (6) hours per day shall receive one (1) fifteen (15) minute rest period. All employees working more than six (6) hours per day shall receive two (2) ten (10) minute rest periods. 4.8.1 The meal period shall normally begin no earlier than the third hour and no later than the fifth hour of that day's scheduled work shift.
