MEAL PERIODS AND REST BREAKS. 4.1 Except when required for urgent or emergency work and except as provided in 4.2 no employee shall be required to work for more than five hours continuously without being allowed a meal break of not less than half an hour.
4.2 An employee unable to be relieved from work for a meal break shall be allowed to have a meal on duty and this period shall be regarded as working time.
4.3 Except where provided for in 4.2 an employee unable to take a meal after five hours’ duty shall be paid at overtime rates from the expiry of five hours until the time when a meal can be taken.
4.4 During the meal break or rest breaks prescribed above, free tea, coffee, milk and sugar shall be supplied by the employer. Where it is impractical to supply tea, coffee, milk and sugar free of charge, an allowance of $1.48 per week in lieu shall be paid. This allowance shall continue during all periods of leave except leave without pay.
4.5 Rest breaks of 10 minutes each for morning tea, afternoon tea or supper, where these occur during duty, shall be allowed as time worked.

Except that on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays an employee shall be paid at time half (T1/2) in addition to normal salary.
4.6 During the meal break or rest breaks prescribed above, free tea, coffee, milo, milk and sugar shall be supplied by the employer. Where it is impractical to supply tea, coffee, milk, milo and sugar free of charge, an allowance of $11 per week in lieu shall be paid. 20.5 Every RMO required to be on duty over a recognised meal period shall be entitled at the employer’s expense, to a meal. Employees working a long day shall have an entitlement to two meals. The parties recognise that an employer has the right to put reasonable specifications on what an RMO may receive as part of the meal entitlement. Any such specifications shall be developed in consultation with SToNZ.

The Employer will provide meal and rest periods in accordance with State and Federal laws except that the Employer agrees to provide rest periods in 15-minute increments in accordance with the Employer’s policy. Rest breaks shall be considered time worked for pay purposes. Employees required to work during the meal period will be compensated for such work at the appropriate rate.

(b) Casual staff are entitled to meal breaks and payments for such breaks as apply equally to permanent staff.
(c) Except when required for urgent or emergency work and except as provided in (d) below, no employee shall be required to work for more than five (5) hours continuously without being allowed a meal break of a minimum of half an hour.
(d) An employee unable to be relieved from work for a meal break shall be allowed half an hour to have a meal on duty and this period shall be regarded as working time.
(e) Except where provided for in (d) above, an employee unable to take a meal after five hours duty shall be paid at time-half rate (t½) in addition to normal salary from the expiry of five (5) hours until the time when a meal can be taken.
(f) Rest breaks of ten (10) minutes each for morning tea, afternoon tea or supper, where these occur during duty, shall be allowed as time worked.
(g) During the meal break or rest breaks prescribed above, free tea, coffee, milk and sugar shall be supplied by the employer. Where it is impractical to supply tea, coffee, milk and sugar free of charge, a weekly allowance in lieu shall be paid of $1.
