Common use of Buy Back of Accrued Vacation Leave Clause in Contracts

Buy Back of Accrued Vacation Leave. An employee may cash out, at the straight time rate of pay, up to 72 hours of accrued vacation leave, in increments of 24 hours. The employee must notify the department of the request to cash out vacation prior to November 30th of the year previous to usage. This request shall be approved by the Fire Chief or designee and the City Manager or designee. At no time may an employee implement this section after vacation selection has taken place in accordance with Article III.C.4. Such hours shall be paid on the first pay date in December of the following calendar year.
