Casual Teachers. a A casual teacher shall be employed on an intermittent basis to relieve a teacher absent from duty or to meet a short term staffing need. b A casual teacher shall be employed for a minimum period of three (3) hours per day and a maximum period of 11 days in respect of any one engagement. There shall be a minimum payment of three (3) hours for each day so employed. c Casual teachers will be paid for the hours they are required to work. d Remuneration for a casual teacher shall be based on the scale of salaries prescribed in Schedule 1 (Wages and Salaries) to this Agreement and in accordance with the formula contained in clause 4.6. e Casual teachers in Secondary Schools and will be paid for preparation and correction time at the rate of one hour for every five hours of teaching time. Casual teachers will not receive such payment in respect of the first two (2) days of any one engagement. f For the purposes of salary increments a casual teacher shall be deemed to have completed a year of service when the aggregate amount of time paid is 1200 hours from 1 January 2013.
