Acting Appointments. If an Employer appoints a Teacher to act in a promotion position for ten or more consecutive school days, the Employer must pay the Teacher the rate prescribed for that position.
Acting Appointments. When a member is requested to take on additional responsibilities on an acting basis additional compensation will be provided. The extent and nature of additional compensation will be determined by the department head and the member, in consultation with People and Resources and, at the member’s request, the President of the Association.
Acting Appointments. An acting appointment is a short-term appointment made to a supervisory or managerial position to provide continuity in the absence of the supervisor or manager. The acting appointment shall be limited to 30 calendar days and no pay adjustment shall be made for an acting appointment, except if an individual appointment exceeds 30 days, the employee shall receive a temporary promotion and be paid retroactively at the higher rate.
Acting Appointments. If the school appoints a Teacher to act in a position of special responsibility or as a Deputy Principal for at least ten consecutive school days, the school must pay the Teacher the rate of allowance prescribed for that position.
Acting Appointments. The Chief of School Police may appoint, on an “Acting basis, a permanent employee to fill a vacancy resulting from the absence of a job incumbent due to Board-approved leave. Employees appointed on an “Acting basis shall satisfy all minimum qualification requirements of the applicable position. An employee appointed to an “Acting position for more than five working days shall receive a one-step pay increase effective the first day of the appointment to the “Acting position. The employee shall revert to his/her previous rate of compensation upon termination of “Acting status. “Acting appointments may not exceed 90 calendar days, unless mutually agreed to by M-DCPS and the Union. Acting Appointments. In the event an employee is placed, by authorization of the concerned Department in a higher classification on an "acting" basis, pending the appropriate appointment from an established eligible list, such employees will receive a one (1) pay step increase for the period of time served in the "acting" class, and further, any time served in this capacity shall not be credited toward the probationary period. An acting appointment will be for an initial period of not more than six (6) months (13 pay periods). However, this initial time period may be extended for up to an additional six (6) months when the Department requests such extension from the Human Resources Department. The Association will be advised by the concerned Department of a requested extension prior to a final determination by the Human Resources Department.
Acting Appointments. 19.6.1 An “Acting Appointment” is the appointment of an employee to a higher-level position on a temporary basis for an indefinite duration when a legitimate need exists due to a vacancy or an extended absence of another employee such as illness, vacation, prolonged jury duty service, military leave, etc. Not all long-term vacancies require an acting appointment; such appointments are reserved for positions that must be filled by law or Charter, or for those positions that are essential to maintain public services and/or efficiency of operations within the City.
19.6.2 An Acting Appointment of a person meeting the minimum qualifications for the position may be made by the appropriate Executive Manager Department Head with the approval of the City Manager for Administrative Management positions. Acting appointments to all other management positions shall only be made with the approval of the Human Resources Director under special circumstances pursuant to ARTICLE 19.6.1. Requests for Acting Appointments must be submitted in writing and must include justification for the appointment.
19.6.3 Acting Appointments are subject to the following:
19.6.3.1 An Acting Appointment must cover a period of at least thirty (30) calendar days.
19.6.3.2 A request for an Acting Appointment should be submitted to the Human Resources Department prior to instituting the acting period. An acting appointment is not posted.
19.6.3.3 The Acting Appointment must involve the assignment of duties and responsibilities corresponding to those included in the job description for the acting position and must be assumed on a full-time basis. However, in some departments, individuals may take on additional assignments and responsibilities at a higher level while maintaining their current job for a limited duration.
19.6.3.4 The appointee in all cases must meet the requirements as provided in the job description of the acting title. The appointee’s background will be reviewed to ensure that the appointee meets the minimum requirements.
19.6.3.5 If an incumbent fails to meet the minimum requirements for an acting appointment but is performing duties associated with the position, an appropriate acting classification and level of pay shall be determined by Human Resources.
19.6.3.6 The normal promotional salary progression will apply in accordance with ARTICLE
Acting Appointments. In the event an employee is placed by department authorization in a position of "acting," pending the establishment of an eligible list, such employee shall be compensated at the in-hiring rate for the class to which they are "acting", provided such rate is at least one (1) pay step higher than they are currently receiving, and further, any time that is spent in the acting title shall not be credited toward probationary time. Employees acting in a classification designated as job basis shall not be eligible for overtime compensation.
Acting Appointments. 1. An Acting appointment for a vacant permanent position will be for an initial period of not more than six (6) months (13 pay periods). This initial time period may be extended for up to an additional six (6) months upon the request of the Division Director. The Union will be advised by Human Resources of a requested extension prior to a final determination.
2. Acting appointments and extensions require written authorization from the Chief Health Officer or designee.
3. Acting appointment requests will be made inwriting by the Division Director and will not involve a formal selection process.
4. Postings of vacant positions will be consistent with the requirements outlined in Article18 Vacancies.
5. An employee can have additional duties and authorities assigned to them on a temporary basis to fill in for an absent or vacant position by being appointed in an "Acting" capacity.
6. An employee who is temporarily assigned to fully perform the functions of a classification in a higher salary range will receive out-of-class pay pursuant to Article 22, Section 5(A).
7. The decision to fill regular, full-time vacancies on a temporary basis pending the completion of selection procedures will not be grievable.
Acting Appointments. The Judiciary may make “acting appointments.” Employees appointed to serve in an acting capacity in a professional supervisory position shall receive a 5% promotional increase to their base salary or the minimum of the salary range, whichever is greater (but not more than the maximum of the salary range) for the time period the employee serves in an acting capacity. This section should not be construed as replacing normal recruitment procedures.
