Childbearing/Adoption & Family Leave. 1. An unpaid leave of absence of up to one (1) year shall be granted for the purpose of caring for a newly born child, adopted child, or seriously ill family member. Family member shall include spouse, parent, step-parent, child or step-child. Request for such leave shall be made as early in advance as practicable. Once the initial leave has been granted, it shall not be extended.
