Civic Duty Leave. A. Employees summoned for jury duty will be granted a leave of absence with pay for time lost from their regular work schedule while on said jury duty upon presentation of the appropriate summons to the department head by the employee.
B. An employee who receives jury fees for jury service upon presentation of the appropriate court certificate of service, shall either:
1. Retain such jury fees in lieu of pay for the period of jury service if the jury fees exceed his/her regular rate of compensation for the period involved; or
2. Remit to the Appointing Authority the jury fees if less than his/her regular rate of compensation for the period involved.
C. Jury fees for the purpose of this Article shall be the per diem rate paid for jury duty by the court not including the expenses reimbursed for travel, meals, rooms or incidentals.
D. An employee summoned as a witness in court on behalf of the Commonwealth or any town, city or county of the Commonwealth or on behalf of the Federal Government shall be granted court leave with pay upon filing of the appropriate notice of service with his/her department head except that this Section shall not apply to an employee who is also in the employ of any town, city or county of the Commonwealth or in the employ of the Federal Government or any private employer and who is summoned on a matter arising from that employment.
E. All fees for court service except jury fees paid for service rendered during office hours must be paid to the Commonwealth. Any fees paid to an employee for court service performed during a vacation period may be retained by the employee. The employee shall retain expenses for travel, meals, rooms, etc.
F. An employee on court leave who has been excused by the proper court authority shall report to his/her official duty station if such interruption in court service will permit four or more consecutive hours of employment. Court leave shall not affect any employment rights of the individual.
G. No court leave shall be granted when the employee is the defendant or is engaged in personal litigation.
Civic Duty Leave. Employees who serve as Selectperson, Village Trustee, Alderperson, Board of Civil Authority, or School Director, or the functional equivalent of any of the above regardless of actual title so long as it is an elected position, in their communities may, subject to the operating needs of their department, be granted up to three (3) days off per fiscal year without loss of pay for the purpose of conducting official business, pertaining to their elected office, which cannot be accomplished outside of normal working hours.

B. A bargaining unit member who receives jury duty fees for jury service upon presentation of the appropriate court certificate of service shall either:
1. retain such jury fees in lieu of pay for the period of jury service if the jury fees exceed his/her regular rate of compensation for the period involved; or
2. remit to the University the jury fees if less than his/her regular rate of compensation for the period involved.

A bargaining unit member summoned as a witness in court on behalf of the Commonwealth, or any town, city or county of the Commonwealth or on behalf of the Federal Government, shall be granted court leave with pay upon filing of the appropriate notice of service with his/her supervisor except that this Section shall not apply to a bargaining unit member who is also in the employ of any town, city or county of the Commonwealth or in the employ of the Federal Government or any private employer and who is summoned on a matter arising from that employment.

G. No court leave shall be granted when the bargaining unit member is the defendant or is engaged in personal litigation, unless such litigation arises out of the legitimate performance of his/her assigned responsibilities.
Civic Duty Leave. Any employee who is called for jury duty, subpoenaed as a witness in a case not involving personal litigation, subpoenaed by a court as a result of job related incidents, or as a witness on behalf of the Board shall be given leave and paid his/her full salary. The employee must return to duty if he/she is dismissed from further duty by 12:00 noon.
Civic Duty Leave. 27.1 Teachers who are involuntarily summoned for jury duty, subpoenaed to be present in court or to give testimony, or required to appear in court or at hearings in connection with the performance of their duties as employees of the District, will be granted civic duty leave with pay for such time as is required by the summons or subpoena. Civic duty leave will not be granted to teachers required to appear in court as defendants in civil or criminal matters which are not related to their employment by the District.
27.2 Teachers who are elected to public office shall be granted civic duty leave without pay for the term of their elected office. A teacher on such approved leave may continue to receive all fringe benefits for which the teacher remains eligible at the teacher’s own expense.
27.3 Teachers who are requested to assist public officials during natural disasters occurring in the area will be granted paid civic duty leave if approved by the Superintendent.
Civic Duty Leave. 1. Professional Employees called for jury duty shall be paid full salary minus compensation paid jurors.
2. When subpoenaed as a witness as a result of employees’ professional duties to the District and/or civic responsibility, prior written authorization from the Superintendent or his/her designee will be required. Full salary will be paid minus compensation paid for witnesses.
Civic Duty Leave. Unit members shall be eligible for absence with pay for jury service, during the actual period of such service, and may retain fees paid him/her as a juror. Absence with pay may also be granted for unit members who are subpoenaed as a witness for the State of Nebraska, during the actual period of such service. Upon being served a summons that his/her name has been drawn as a juror or upon being served a subpoena to appear as a witness, the unit member shall immediately advise the supervisor in writing, stating the time, place and name of the court to which he/she is to attend and provide a copy of the summons to Human Resources.
Civic Duty Leave. 1 Jury Duty Certified employees will be excused for jury duty. While on jury duty, an employee is to receive full pay from the school district minus the amount received for services rendered on jury duty. Employees will keep reimbursement for mileage.
Civic Duty Leave. Teachers shall be granted leave when called to jury duty or when under subpoena from any court to appear as a witness, providing the employee is not involved as either plaintiff or defendant. Full salary shall be paid by the District for the days a teacher serves on jury duty or as a witness under subpoena. If a teacher is called for jury duty and is not selected, the teacher is expected to return to the District and complete the workday.
Civic Duty Leave. Leave of absence for jury duty, or to respond to a subpoena for a legal proceeding must be granted to faculty. Any witness fees must be turned over to the District. If the faculty member is a plaintiff or a defendant in a case not related to his or employment, there shall be no compensation.
