Conceptual Alternatives Analysis and Modeling. The Engineer shall utilize the demand modeling to analyze the conceptual alternatives in the corresponding projection years using the H-GAC travel demand model. Population and employment growth and changes in land use shall also be analyzed in order to provide a detailed understanding of the conceptual alternatives during the projected years. In addition to output from H-GAC’s regional travel demand model, the evaluation of traffic/mobility impacts associated with the viable alternatives will be based on projected peak hour traffic volumes and capacity/traffic operational analysis conducted using the VISSIM simulation model. The Engineer shall build a VISSIM model for the study area identified in PHASE 1 and utilize the VISSIM model to test the traffic operations of the preliminary alternatives. The results of this analysis will assist in comparing the operational performance of the preliminary alternatives and identify deficiencies along the project termini.
