Conditions of measurement. 2.1.2.1. During the test to determine the time t, the feed rate of the energy source shall be that obtained when the engine is running at the speed corresponding to its maximum power or at the speed allowed by the over-speed governor.
2.1.2.2. During the test to determine the time t, energy storage device(s) for auxiliary equipment shall not be isolated other than automatically.
Conditions of measurement. 2.3.1. In all cases, the speed of the compressor shall be that obtained when the engine is running at the speed corresponding to its maximum power or at the speed allowed by the governor.
2.3.2. During the tests to determine the time t1 and the time t2, the energy storage device(s) for auxiliary equipment shall be isolated.
2.3.3. If it is intended to attach a trailer to a power-driven vehicle, the trailer shall be represented by an energy storage device whose maximum relative pressure p (expressed in kPa / 100) is that which can be supplied through the towing vehicle's supply circuit and whose volume V, expressed in litres, is given by the formula p x V = 20 R (R being the permissible maximum mass, in tonnes, on the axles of the trailer).
Conditions of measurement. 6.2.1.1. The sound test of the exhaust silencing system and the exhaust replacement silencing system have to be executed with the same "normal" tyres, as defined in paragraph 2. of UN Regulation No. 117. The tests are not allowed to be done with "special use" tyres or "snow" tyres as defined in paragraph 2. of UN Regulation No. 117. Such tyres could increase the sound level of the vehicle or would have a masking effect on the sound reduction performance comparison. The tyres may be of used condition but shall satisfy legal requirements for in-traffic use.
Conditions of measurement. 3.1.1. Temperature range: 10 °C to 30 °C
3.1.2. The vehicle shall be standing on a horizontal surface. In the case of ramp measurements, this surface shall be fitted with a rigidly mounted block or other similar device having a face against which the ramp can react.
Conditions of measurement. 3.1.1. temperature range 10°-30° C.
3.1.2. the vehicle shall stay on a horizontal surface.
Conditions of measurement. 2.2.1. The speed of the vacuum source shall be:
2.2.1.1. Where the vacuum source is the vehicle engine, the engine speed obtained with the vehicle stationary, the neutral gear engaged and the engine idling;
2.2.1.2. Where the vacuum source is a pump, the speed obtained with the engine running at 65 per cent of the speed corresponding to its maximum power output; and
2.2.1.3. Where the vacuum source is a pump and the engine is equipped with a governor, the speed obtained with the engine running at 65 per cent of the maximum speed allowed by the governor.
Conditions of measurement. 2.1. The fuel shall be the reference fuel as specified in Annexes 10 and 10a to this Regulation.
2.2. During the test, the environmental temperature shall be between 293 and 303 K (20 and 30 °C). The engine shall be warmed up until all temperatures of cooling and lubrication means and the pressure of lubrication means have reached equilibrium.
Conditions of measurement. 2.2.1. The speed of the vacuum source shall be:
2.2.1.1. Where the vacuum source is the vehicle engine, the engine speed obtained with the vehicle stationary, the neutral gear engaged and the engine idling;

2.2.2. Where it is intended to couple to the power-driven vehicle, a trailer whose service braking system is vacuum-operated, the trailer shall be represented by an energy storage device having a capacity V in litres determined by the formula V = 15 R, where R is the maximum permissible mass, in tonnes, on the axles of the trailer.

Conditions of measurement. 2.1. Measurements shall be performed on unladen vehicles and, except in the case of non-separable vehicles, without trailer or semi-trailer, in a sufficiently silent and open area (ambient noise and wind noise at least 10 db(A) below the noise being measured). The above- mentioned area may take the form, for instance, of an open space of 50 m radius having a central part of at least 20 m radius, practically level, consisting of concrete, asphalt or similar material, and not covered with powdery snow, tall grass, loose soil or ashes.
2.2. The surfacing of the runway shall be such as not to cause excessive tyre noise. This condition applies only to measurement of the noise made by vehicles in motion.
2.3. Measurement shall be carried out in fine weather with little wind. Any sound peak which appears to be unrelated to the characteristics of the general sound level shall be ignored in taking the readings.
2.4. Before the measurements are started, the engine shall be brought to its normal operating regime as regards:
