Conditions Related to the Leaves. (1) For employees on pregnancy leave or parental leave for birth or adoption, employment is considered continuous for the purpose of calculating seniority, annual vacation and termination entitlements, as well as for pension, medical or other plans of benefit to the employee. The Employer will continue to make payments to any such plans.

Conditions Related to the Leaves. Employment is considered continuous for the purposes of calculating seniority, annual vacation and termination entitlements, as well as for pension, medical or other plans of benefit to the employee. The Employer will continue to make payments to any such plans unless the employee chooses not to continue with his or her share of the cost of a plan. In the case of a birth mother on the long term extended leave following parental leave [Article 16.5 (b)], fringe benefits will be made available provided the employee pays the total monthly premiums in advance (pension contributions shall be continued on a shared basis). If the employee fails to return to work, the Employer will be reimbursed for monies paid under this provision. The employee shall be deemed to have resigned on the date upon which leave commenced if verbal or written notice is not made one (1) month prior to the expiration of the leave or if the employee does not return to work after having notified the Employer of return to work. As soon as the leave ends, the employee will be returned to the employee's former position or a comparable position.
