Continuing Education Allowance. (a) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse who holds a continuing education qualification in a clinical field, in addition to the qualification leading to registration or enrolment, shall be paid an allowance subject to the conditions set out in this clause. (b) The qualification must be accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the employee in the duties of the position. (c) The allowance is not payable to Deputy Directors of Nursing or Directors of Nursing unless it can be demonstrated to the satisfaction of the employer that more than fifty per cent of the employee’s time is spent doing clinical work. (j) An enrolled nurse who holds a relevant certificate IV qualification in a clinical field (not including a certificate IV qualification which has the effect of upgrading the qualification leading to enrolment) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the enrolled nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 24 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement. (k) The allowances set out in sub-clauses 20.7 (g), (h), (i) and (j) are not included in the employee’s ordinary rate of pay and will not constitute part of the all-purpose rate. (l) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse who is employed on a part-time or casual basis shall be paid these allowances on a pro rata basis.
(m) The rates for these allowances shall be adjusted in accordance with increases in other wage-related allowances contained in this Agreement.

Continuing Education Allowance. (ai) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse An employee employed in the classification of Registered Nurse (years 1 to 8), Clinical Nurse Specialist/Clinical, Nursing Unit Manager, ADON Grade 1 and ADON Grade 2 who holds a continuing education qualification in a clinical field, in addition to the qualification leading to registration or enrolmentregistration, shall be paid an allowance a continuing education allowance, subject to the following conditions set out in this clause.below:

(gii) A registered nurse Subject to the provisions in subclause (i) of this clause, an employee who holds a post-registration hospital certificate listed in Schedule 1 that is relevant to the employee’s current role shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Item 18 of Table 2 – Other Rates and Allowances, of Part B, Monetary Rates.
(iii) Subject to the provisions in subclause (i) of this clause, an employee who holds a post-graduate certificate shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Item 19 of Table 2 – Other Rates and Allowances, of Part B, Monetary Rates.
(iv) Subject to the provisions in subclause (i) of this clause, an employee who holds a post-graduate diploma or degree (other than an undergraduate nursing degree) shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Item 20 of the said Table 2.
(v) Subject to the provisions in subclause (i) of this clause, an employee who holds a masters degree or doctorate shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Item 21 of the said Table 2.
(vi) An Enrolled Nurse, who holds a relevant postgraduate certificate Certificate IV or equivalent continuing education qualification in a clinical field, or Advanced Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) in addition to the qualification leading to enrolment, shall be paid a continuing education allowance, subject to the following conditions set out below:
(a) the allowance is only payable where the qualification is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the Enrolled Nurse in the duties of the position;
(b) an employee holding more than one relevant qualification is only entitled to one allowance, being the allowance of the highest monetary value;

(viii) Subject to the provisions in subclause (vi) of this clause, an Enrolled Nurse who holds an Advanced Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) qualification shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Item 23 of the said Table 2.
(ix) A Clinical Nurse Educator who holds a post graduate diploma, degree, Masters or Doctorate in education or a clinical field in addition to the qualification leading to registration, or a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 who holds a post graduate diploma, degree, Masters or Doctorate in a clinical field in addition to the qualification leading to registration, shall be paid a continuing education allowance, subject to the following conditions set out below:
(not including a hospital certificatea) that the allowance is only payable where the qualification is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position position;

(hxi) A registered nurse who holds a relevant postgraduate diploma or degree in a clinical field (other than a nursing undergraduate degree) that is accepted by the employer The above allowances are not to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 22 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(i) A registered nurse who holds a relevant master’s degree or doctorate in a clinical field that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 23 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(j) An enrolled nurse who holds a relevant certificate IV qualification in a clinical field (not including a certificate IV qualification which has the effect of upgrading the qualification leading to enrolment) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the enrolled nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 24 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(k) The allowances set out in sub-clauses 20.7 (g), (h), (i) and (j) are not included in the employee’s ordinary rate of pay and will not constitute part pay. The allowances are payable during periods of the all-purpose ratepaid leave taken by an employee.
(lxii) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse who is employed on a part-time or casual basis The continuing education allowances shall be paid these considered salary-related allowances on a pro rata basisfor the purpose of salary and salary related allowance increases.
(mxiii) The rates employer is not obligated to make a payment of a Continuing Education Allowance until documentation is provided by the employee to the satisfaction of the employer.
(a) An Employee claiming entitlement to a qualification allowance must provide to the Employer appropriate evidence that the Employee holds the qualification for these allowances which the entitlement is claimed or has qualified for the award of the qualification.
(b) An Employee will meet the evidence requirements when they have provided the Employer with evidence from the education / training provider that would satisfy a reasonable person that the Employee has obtained the qualification or has satisfied the academic requirements for the award of the qualification.
(c) Where an employee fails to provide evidence to the Employer of the qualification until such time as the employee provides such evidence to the Employer, the employee shall not be entitled to payment of a qualification allowance. Payment of the qualification allowance shall be adjusted in accordance with increases in other wage-related allowances made on and from the date that evidence is provided.
(xiv) Where a dispute arises concerning the eligibility for payment of a Continuing Education Allowance that is not resolved by the process contained in subclauses (i) to (iv) of clause 32, Disputes, of this Agreement, negotiations between the Employer and the Union (or other nominated workplace representative) must occur prior to referral to the Fair Work Commission for determination.

(i) A registered nurse who holds a relevant master’s degree or doctorate in a clinical field that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 23 of Table 2 22 of Schedule B B.2 to this Agreement.
(j) An enrolled nurse who holds a relevant certificate IV qualification in a clinical field (not including a certificate IV qualification which has the effect of upgrading the qualification leading to enrolment) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the enrolled nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 24 of Table 2 23 of Schedule B B.2 to this Agreement.
(k) The allowances set out in sub-clauses 20.7 subclauses 30.7 (g), (h), (i) and (j) are not included in the employee’s ordinary rate of pay and will not constitute part of the all-purpose all‐purpose rate.

Continuing Education Allowance. (a) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse who holds a continuing education qualification in a clinical field, in addition to the qualification leading to registration or enrolment, shall be paid an allowance subject to the conditions set out in this clause.
(b) The qualification must be accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the employee in the duties of the position.
(c) The allowance is not payable to Deputy Directors of Nursing or Directors of Nursing unless it can be demonstrated to the satisfaction of the employer that more than fifty per cent of the employee’s time is spent doing clinical work.
(d) The allowance is not payable to Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Nurse Consultants or Clinical Nurse Educators.
(e) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse holding more than one relevant qualification is only entitled to the payment of one allowance, being the allowance of the highest monetary value.
(f) The employee claiming entitlement to a continuing education allowance must provide evidence to the employer that they hold that qualification.
(g) A registered nurse who holds a relevant postgraduate certificate in a clinical field (not including a hospital certificate) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 21 19 of Table 2 5 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(h) A registered nurse who holds a relevant postgraduate diploma or degree in a clinical field (other than a nursing undergraduate degree) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 22 20 of Table 2 5 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(i) A registered nurse who holds a relevant master’s degree or doctorate in a clinical field that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 23 21 of Table 2 5 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(j) An enrolled nurse who holds a relevant certificate IV qualification in a clinical field (not including a certificate IV qualification which has the effect of upgrading the qualification leading to enrolment) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the enrolled nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 24 22 of Table 2 5 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(k) The allowances set out in sub-clauses 20.7 (g), (h), (i) and (j) are not included in the employee’s ordinary rate of pay and will not constitute part of the all-purpose rate.
(l) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse who is employed on a part-time or casual basis shall be paid these allowances on a pro rata basis.
(m) The rates for these allowances shall be adjusted in accordance with increases in other wage-related allowances contained in this Agreement.

(iii) Subject to the provisions in subclause (i) of this clause, an employee who holds a post-graduate certificate shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Schedule A, Item 13 of Table 2.
(iv) Subject to the provisions in subclause (i) of this clause, an employee who holds a post-graduate diploma or degree (other than an undergraduate nursing degree) shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Schedule A, Item 14 of Table 2.
(v) Subject to the provisions in subclause (i) of this clause, an employee who holds a masters degree or doctorate shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Schedule A, Item 15 of Table 2.
(vi) An Enrolled Nurse or an Enrolled Nurse without medication qualification, who holds a relevant postgraduate certificate Certificate IV or equivalent continuing education qualification in a clinical field, or Advanced Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) in addition to the qualification leading to enrolment, shall be paid a continuing education allowance, subject to the following conditions set out below:
(a) the allowance is only payable where the qualification is accepted by HammondCare to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the Enrolled Nurse or an Enrolled Nurse without medication qualification in the duties of the position;
(b) an employee holding more than one relevant qualification is only entitled to one allowance, being the allowance of the highest monetary value;
(c) the employee claiming entitlement to a qualification allowance must provide evidence to HammondCare that they hold that qualification within three months of obtaining the qualification or within three months of commencing work in the relevant specialty, unless exceptional circumstances prevent this.
(vii) Subject to the provisions in subclause (vi) of this clause, an Enrolled Nurse or an Enrolled Nurse without medication qualification who holds a Certificate 4 qualification shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Schedule A, Item 16 of Table 2.
(viii) Subject to the provisions in subclause (vi) of this clause, an Enrolled Nurse or an Enrolled Nurse without medication qualification who holds an Advanced Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) qualification shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Schedule A, Item 17 of Table 2.
(ix) A Clinical Nurse Educator who holds a post graduate diploma, degree, Masters or Doctorate in education or a clinical field in addition to the qualification leading to registration, or a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 who holds a post graduate diploma, degree, Masters or Doctorate in a clinical field in addition to the qualification leading to registration, shall be paid a continuing education allowance, subject to the following conditions set out below:
(not including a hospital certificatea) that the allowance is only payable where the qualification is accepted by the employer HammondCare to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position position;

(c) The allowance is not payable to Deputy Directors of Nursing or Directors of Nursing unless it can be demonstrated to the satisfaction of the employer that more than fifty per cent of the employee’s time is spent doing clinical work.
(d) The allowance is not payable to Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Nurse Consultants or Clinical Nurse Educators.
(e) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse holding more than one relevant qualification is only entitled to the payment of one allowance, being the allowance of the highest monetary value.
(f) The employee claiming entitlement to a continuing education allowance must provide evidence to the employer that they hold that qualification.
(g) A registered nurse who holds a relevant postgraduate certificate in a clinical field (not including a hospital certificate) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 21 19 of Table 2 5 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(h) A registered nurse who holds a relevant postgraduate diploma or degree in a clinical field (other than a nursing undergraduate degree) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 22 20 of Table 2 5 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(i) A registered nurse who holds a relevant master’s degree or doctorate in a clinical field that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 23 21 of Table 2 5 of Schedule B to this Agreement.Agreement.
(j) An enrolled nurse who holds a relevant certificate IV qualification in a clinical field (not including a certificate IV qualification which has the effect of upgrading the qualification leading to enrolment) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the enrolled nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 24 22 of Table 2 5 of Schedule B to this Agreement.
(k) The allowances set out in sub-clauses 20.7 21.7 (g), (h), (i) and (j) are not included in the employee’s ordinary rate of pay and will not constitute part of the all-purpose rate.
(l) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse who is employed on a part-time or casual basis shall be paid these allowances on a pro rata basis.
(m) The rates for these allowances shall be adjusted in accordance with increases in other wage-related allowances contained in this Agreement.

(iv) Subject to the provisions in subclause (i) of this clause, an employee who holds a post-graduate diploma or degree (other than an undergraduate nursing degree) shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Item 16 of the said Table 2.
(v) Subject to the provisions in subclause (i) of this clause, an employee who holds a masters degree or doctorate shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Item 17 of the said Table 2.
(vi) An Enrolled Nurse or an Enrolled Nurse without medication qualification, who holds a relevant postgraduate certificate Certificate IV or equivalent continuing education qualification in a clinical field, or Advanced Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) in addition to the qualification leading to enrolment, shall be paid a continuing education allowance, subject to the following conditions set out below:

(viii) Subject to the provisions in subclause (vi) of this clause, an Enrolled Nurse or an Enrolled Nurse without medication qualification who holds an Advanced Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) qualification shall be paid an allowance of an amount set out in Item 19 of the said Table 2.
(ix) A Clinical Nurse Educator who holds a post graduate diploma, degree, Masters or Doctorate in education or a clinical field in addition to the qualification leading to registration, or a Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 who holds a post graduate diploma, degree, Masters or Doctorate in a clinical field in addition to the qualification leading to registration, shall be paid a continuing education allowance, subject to the following conditions set out below:

(mxiii) The rates Where a dispute arises concerning the eligibility for these allowances shall be adjusted in accordance with increases in other wage-related allowances payment of a Continuing Education Allowance that is not resolved by the process contained in subclauses (i) to (iv) of Clause 47, Disputes, of this Agreement, negotiations between the Employer and the Association (or other workplace representative) must occur prior to referral to Fair Work Commission (or its successor) for determination.

(e) In order that CHCR management can commence implementation consultations with Employees regarding acceptable qualifications and required documentation, the parties agree that education allowance shall operate no earlier that 1 April 2006 after which they shall continue for the life of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreementagreement.
(hf) A registered nurse The above allowance shall apply on a pro rata basis as to the proportion of ordinary weekly hours bears to 38.
(ii) An Enrolled Nurse, who holds a relevant postgraduate diploma or degree medication endorsement in a clinical field (other than a nursing undergraduate degree) that is accepted by the employer addition to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 22 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement.

(b) the Enrolled Nurse claiming entitlement to this qualification allowance must provide evidence to the Employer that they hold the medication endorsement.
(iii) Subject to the preceding provisions in subclause (ii) of this clause, an enrolled nurse who holds a medication endorsement shall be paid the weekly an allowance of an amount set out in Item 24 of Table Schedule 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement(13. B) below.

(i) A registered nurse who holds a relevant master’s degree or doctorate in a clinical field that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Allowances Item 23 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement#21.
(j) An enrolled nurse who holds a relevant certificate IV qualification in a clinical field (not including a certificate IV qualification which has the effect of upgrading the qualification leading to enrolment) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the enrolled nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Allowances Item 24 of Table 2 of Schedule B to this Agreement#22.
(k) The allowances set out in sub-clauses 20.7 29.7 (g), (h), (i) and (j) are not included in the employee’s ordinary rate of base pay and will not constitute part of the all-purpose rate.
(l) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse who is employed on a part-time or casual basis shall be paid these allowances on a pro rata basis.
(m) The rates for these allowances shall be adjusted in accordance with increases in other wage-related allowances contained in this Agreement.

(kh) The allowances set out in sub-clauses 20.7 (g), (h), (i) and (j) this subclause are not included in the employeeEmployee’s ordinary rate of pay and will not constitute part of the all-purpose rate.
(li) A registered nurse or enrolled nurse who Only one qualification allowance at any time applies for each Employee. It must be demonstrated that the qualification must be relevant to current area of practice and is employed on a part-time or casual basis being utilised.
(j) The post graduate allowance shall be paid these allowances on overtime worked in a pro rata basisrelevant area of practice.
(mk) Approval of the qualification will be considered upon application to the Employer.
(l) The rates qualification allowances will be as follows (applied to the Relevant Agreement rate): Qualification Allowance Post grad Certificate 4.00% Post grad Diploma 6.50% Post grad Degree 6.50% Post grad Masters/Doctorate 7.50% 34. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
(a) The Employer recognises that training/education is essential for these allowances shall the maintenance and development of nursing practices. The objectives of staff development will be adjusted to enhance the skills of the nurse so they may perform at optimum levels and meet best practice objectives. The Employer will continue to provide and support training/education opportunities equitably to ensure its nurses are able to deliver appropriate services to the Surgeons and Patients and to perform other related duties in accordance with increases relevant standards.
(b) The responsibility for staff development is shared between Employees and the Employer. Nurses are expected to participate in other wage-related allowances contained professional skill development to ensure that they perform at a standard consistent with nursing competencies relevant to their classification and registration.
(c) On the basis of the assessed needs of the practice, the Employer will continue its current practice of supporting the Professional Development of its Nurses by providing up to three (3) days paid per year to allow employees to attend training which includes all mandatory training.
(d) Such training is to firstly be approved by the Employer, in this Agreementwriting, following an application, in writing, being made by the employee. Such proposals will be assessed on a case by case basis by the Employer.
(e) The provision of mandatory training and skill updates as per State and Federal Legislation is the responsibility of the Employer. Attendance at such mandatory training and skills update sessions is the responsibility of the Nurse for a minimum of eight (8) hours per year regardless of employment status.
(f) Mandatory training will be paid at the appropriate rate as per the Agreement rate for those on duty and at the ordinary rate of pay for those attending in their own time.

(h) A registered nurse who holds a relevant postgraduate diploma or degree in a clinical field (other than a nursing undergraduate degree) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 22 19 of Table 2 5 of Schedule B to of this Agreement.
(i) A registered nurse who holds a relevant master’s 's degree or doctorate in a clinical field that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the registered nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 23 20 of Table 2 5 of Schedule B to of this Agreement.
(j) An enrolled nurse who holds a relevant certificate Certificate IV qualification in a clinical field (not including a certificate Certificate IV qualification which has the effect of upgrading the qualification leading to enrolment) that is accepted by the employer to be directly relevant to the competency and skills used by the enrolled nurse in carrying out the duties of the position shall be paid the weekly allowance set out in Item 24 21 of Table 2 5 of Schedule B to of this Agreement.
